Looking good!

Brother Rat 07-21-2004 05:57

What kind of paint did you use?

Smokin Joe 07-21-2004 07:44

Krylon camo-OD green. Found at Ace hardware for 4 bucks a can.

NousDefionsDoc 07-21-2004 08:31

I like it.

BadMuther 07-21-2004 10:12

Never heard of anyone painting a pistol.....you worried about the paint causing reliability problems?

Joe, you told me you painted it hot pink.....:p

Nope,

I fully disassembled it, taped it, and only painted the exterior of the weapon. The areas pointed out below are not shadows but the original color that was never painted over.

Basically all areas with working parts have zero paint on them.

P.S. I thought the hot pink clashed to much with the basket weave holster.:)

BadMuther 07-21-2004 11:40

Copy....gun looks good.

Maybe when your department lets you wear your skirt to work you can try repainting it...:D

NousDefionsDoc 07-21-2004 12:14

How do you like the Kimber Joe?

I LOVE IT

2500 + rounds through it and it not a hang up or malfunction.

Barrel and bushing lock up are still as tight as when I bought it.

I highly recommed it. Except get one with a light rail. I would have but I got mine 2 months before Kimber released the TLE/ RL II and yes I'm still bitter about it.:)

I maybe dumb but I'm not stupid.

You must think I'm crazy to talk shit about The Team Sergeants Pistol

I have found MY Kimber to be more reliable and pack a bigger punch than my 9mm H&K P7M8. I do not own any other H&K so I could not and would not comment on which is better.

Additionally I perfer a single action type of trigger.

Team Sergeant 07-21-2004 17:16

Glad to see you didn't fall for it Joe!

I also like a single action trigger, AND a double action trigger if I feel so inclined. That's why I shoot a HK USP .45.

TS

BadMuther 07-21-2004 21:17

TS,

Any problems with that H&K? The folks I know that have them seem to have a lot of malfunctions with them.

Jgood 07-21-2004 22:06

I have the full size USP 45 Hk and have fired about 1k rounds of all diffents brands of ammo and have never had a problem. probly one of the best pistols i have ever fired.

Nope, I've got 5 of them and have yet to have a malfunction.

TS

BadMuther 07-21-2004 22:21

Damn! Sounds like you like them as much as I like glocks!

The guys with the Malf. H&K's were Squeals...maybe they teach them a different kind of maintenance....;)

Team Sergeant 07-21-2004 22:30

I cut my teeth on 1911's. Owned about 5 of them also. Spent untold money keeping them running. That's over. The 1911 was state of the art, in the year 1911. I'll never buy another.

Time to embrace new tech. As a red blooded American I'm sad we cannot make a "new" high tech handgun. Changing the name of a 1911 over and over and over just doesn't cut it anymore, at least not to me. Time to move on to a piece that's way ahead of "single" action, and designed for "right" handed shooters only.

I don't get paid by HK. As you can see there are no HK ad's on this site. Yeah, I like them.

TS

BadMuther 07-21-2004 22:37

I'm very partial to glocks....not a lot of parts to break, and reliable as hell...no need for any bells or whistles.

I also enjoy the same, consistent, light trigger pull every time!

I'll occasionally pull my POS Beretta 92 out and invariably I shoot like shit with that thing until the 3rd mag....

Love my glock 19! :D

TS,

Can the H&K USP series be carried "safely" in a cocked and locked fashion or does the hammer have to be down against the firing pin (Like a Sig)?

Team Sergeant 07-22-2004 07:21

Carried as safely as the 1911. HK also has a thumb safety that can be engaged and disengaged in the “cocked and locked” configuration.

Alex F 07-22-2004 11:33

The only thing I didn't like about my USP was the size of the thing. If they could slim it down a notch it'd be perfect.

Mine functioned 100% in the 2000 rounds I put through it, everything from 20 dollar a box hollow points to cheap russian 230 grain.

I have a USP tactical coming in august...

NousDefionsDoc 07-22-2004 16:06

Hey Joe, you need to trade up brah:

The Kimber Warrior. Projected availability this fall. MSRP should be around $1100.

* Series I - w/ Rail GI length guide rod and Plug

* Internal extractor

* Lanyard loop

* New Kimber Bumped grip safety. Will look like an Ed Brown.

* Gunner grip or similar type G-10 material grip. Will be Coyote Brown.

* New Kimber Wedge Night sight. Will look like a Novak low profile.

* Ambi safety

* Kimpro

* 7rd. mag w/ pad

I'm going to start saving now for this, a SMATCHET and a lapel dagger. What's Kimpro?

Team Sergeant 07-22-2004 16:14

Joe, before you shell out untold sums of money for another 1911 with a different name, I'll take you shooting. Save your money for a USP. Trust me.

TS

NousDefionsDoc 07-22-2004 16:19

LOL - Joe, buy the New Kimber and come down here and I'll take you to shoot somebody! . We can find a drug lord real easy. We'll just get in the car and ride around like that Pelton guy. I know the roads real good.

Then we'll go to Sofia's crib for the AAR.:lifter

PS - The AAR at Sofias will cost you leaving the Kimber and a gross of ammo.

Team Sergeant 07-22-2004 16:29

Joe,

Don't listen to NDD. He's been under too long if you know what I mean.

Joe, look at this picture. It's a 1911, and a pistol used in WWI, is that what you want Joe, a pistol design older then your grandfather?

Actually, it is what I would choose.

The M-2 .50 BMG design is also over 80 years old, is it also undesirable for tactical use?

H&K? Isn't that a French company?

Because I like it, mine work fine, and I hit what I am aiming at with it.

I ask you, why not?

I live in Southern California, Command Sergeant Major. Dime a dozen around here. :lifter

Smokin Joe 07-22-2004 18:00

Can I pick Option "C" (all of the above)? :D

Go shooting with the Team Sergeant, buy an H&K USP.

Then take my old Kimber down south to shoot a drug lord, leave it with NDD, get really shit faced and drool all over the lady in that pic.

OUCH. I'd never own a French gun. HK's feel better in my hand than a 1911, although TFKilo and I have been half looking at some.

Just out of curiosity, why type of 1911 would you recommend if we did get some. I've heard alot of work needs to be done on them right off.:munchin

That depends on what you buy.

All I did to mine was put an ambi safety on it and it was G2G.

Others.....well you could break the bank trying to get them to run propperly.

The Reaper 07-22-2004 18:06

I have had excellent luck with Kimbers and ParaOrdnance, some success with Springfields, and little success with Colt's running right out of the box.

Since the Paras hold more ammo, I like them best, though people with small hands may have trouble with their grip size.

I have man hands, I swear. One guy told me to carry the ultra compact Glock, since it's more of a ladies gun, in 9mm. I could get two fingers around it, and I only carry .45. I have no problems with a larger grip, and prefer it. We saw a pair of Para's for a decient price, and a cop shop here loves Kimbers.

How are the trigers on Para's? That's what I have heard the biggest issue is.
