SGM Kevin Nirschl
I was in the 11th with Kevin Nirschl a long time ago. If this is the same guy, and I’m pretty sure it is (how many guys you know named Nirschl?), he went active serving with the 19th Group in a full-time team slot. He was in the 82nd his first time around and joined B211 in Youngstown. He got SF qualified and made E-5 while with our mob in Youngstown and went active at a time when things were slow in the economy in the 80’s. I remember that he had a Skull and Crossbones tattoo with crossed pistons in place of the bones. He was a biker to the very end and I wish he was wearing a helmet because things may have turned out differently for him. Kevin was a good guy, a reliable team member, and proud to be Airborne and SF.
A helluva way to die but everyone gotta go sometimes. RIP Kevin.. |
