5.25 Blade, Harsey

Here is some recent knife work from me.
5.25 inch blade, sandblast finish, CPM S-30V with fitted leather sheath. Full tapered tang, micarta handle.

These are snapshots, not Piter Class photos.

2nd image shows problems of high polish finish in image, same model knife.
Edited to add: knives are not sharp yet, that's next.

Very nice.
They DON'T photograph as well but I like a high polish for a using knife.

Yes! Using the leather stitcher is like going from a riding lawnmower to the left seat of a little bird. The learning curve has been steep.

The sun came out, got some slightly better images. The light better shows the handle shaping and detail of the tapered tang can be seen.
This takes some weight out of the end of the knife for nicer balance.

Bill,

Your leather work looks great!

Its nice to see your talent for knife design translates to leather as well. Job well done. Looks like the sewing machine purchase was well worth it.

Stay well and I will give you a call when I get back to the world.

Mr. Harsey,

I really admire your work, and the pics posted here bring out the beauty of your latest creation.

Outstanding job, sir!

Claemore 12-30-2009 23:25

I still think this is about the most perfectly sized knife. Not to mention the simple beauty and functionality of the knife are at equal strengths here. You really cannot get a better knife than this. But I still like your tanto better, Mr. Harsey.:lifter

kublai 12-31-2009 00:04

Piter, those are great photos. The knife is beautiful. Well done!

Thank you Sir! It's still my favorite fixed blade, perfect size for outdoor! Recently I made a kydex rig for it (pic) and I carry it quite often on my backpack in handle-down position now. Kydex works quite well for me in the Winter when I carry the knife on the outside of my cloths. Otherwise it'd be quite a problem to draw it (fast).

And also two outdoor pic's taken recently. We've got HELL LOT of snow here! And that's of course me and my BEST companion when walking in the woods.

Also I'm sorry that I didn't post for such a long time. Been busy a bit, than broken my ribs and I had to lay flat for some time... anyway, I'm back guys :D
