I'm a 1LT stationed at Sam Houston. I've been lurking here for quite a while, soaking up all the information and tips I've come across. I've submitted my packet and waiting for a board to convene in March '14 to compete for a slot for SFAS.

Good morning. Im stationed at fort hood. I feel that after being in for 2.5 years the army isnt challenging to me at all. its boring.
My brother in law is in 1st group and he loves it and talking to him about it probably impacted me to want it. when i get back from korea next year ill talk to the recruiter and go. ill have 9-10 months to prepare myself so I hope to learn a lot here. thanks!

Hello all, I am a 25 year old university student with 6 years active and 2 reserve in the navy. I suppose I should admit now that while unknowingly, I did not make this introduction my first post as instructed, although I did read the rules several times I suppose I did not pay sufficient attention to detail and I apologize.

For the past several years I have known I want to be part of the special forces community but have been torn between the SEALS, and Green Berets. The deciding factor for me is a long story but if you are interested in hearing about it feel free to message me and I would be happy to explain. Suffice it to say now that I have decided Green Beret is the path I desire I am committed whole heatedly to becoming one of the army's elite warriors. I have already spent hours on end going over the wealth of knowledge available on this site as a non member and am very much looking forward to learning as much as possible from its members.

My name is Joe Nelson living in Cincinnati,Ohio. I served with SF in RVN during 1972-73 on A362 at the Long Hai training camp. Later, I served in the 11 th SFGA at Kings Mills, Ohio as a 11B4S. My final assignment was with the Ohio NG until my retirement in 1992...tired of being an instructor!

My regular civilian job was as a pilot for an airline based here in Cincinnati in 2004 and my retirement.

I don't know if that is anything notable. I really don't remember much of the ride so I can't say if it was actually at zero altitude. I wound up with a compressed spine and a ruptured diaphram but my observer got out uninjured.

I thought I was lucky to have a flying slot at my rank which were few and far between!

In your profile, you should have probably included being an OV-1 driver in the ORANG. Not too many Mohawk pilots on here, I reckon.

I did mention the 3MIB. We had units in several states including SC, GA, MI, OH, PA and OR. I didn't think it was necessary to cover my service in that much detail.

With working for an airline, I could visit or work with units on a TDY basis for little or no expense to me including AZ, OR & GA. That's if my company had a "jump seat agreement" with an airline who served a city close to the unit.

Well I think that's TMI for now.
