Just Finished Reading....

Get Selected a few days ago, and I myself could not put it down. I have since put on order several of the titles recommended by Lt. Col Martin, as I am sure they will also be usefull tools in my preparation for SFAS. I am actually re-reading Get Selected and highlighting all they key points I feel I need to remember the most. Thanks again for the great advice Warrior Mentor.

Got the book in the mail two days ago. Read it in short order. The author claims that it's an easy read and full of the information that you would give to your kid if he wanted to go to SFAS.

It is.

The book is solid. On a first time through ( I'm going through with a little more detail now) the most striking thing was how you phrase a question. Instead of asking "CAN" I complete SFAS/Q, ask "HOW" can I complete SFAS/Q. I tell you, when you change all those "cans" to "hows" it instantly boosts your confidence and optimism.

Who would have thought that one little word could make such a difference.

Thanks for a great resource!

Where will we be in 20 Years?

Been working the numbers to see where GET SELECTED is and where we'll be....

looks like could break $200,000 in total donations to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation this year!

This is 20% of the way to ultimate goal...it's taken 5 years to get this far...will keep chipping away at it...

I've read through this entire book twice and reference to it constantly. It's a great book!

Rosco 09-14-2009 20:15

I bought 2 copies of this book.
One was for my father, who was very curious about the entire process.
The other was for me, of course. :p

Very enjoyable and informative read. It will remain nearby for a while.

I'm glad you're going to read it.

After you read it read all the stickies in this forum, comply with all of them - and then make your "first" post in the intro thread.

I enjoyed the heck out of this book! Read it a few times and never feel like I'm bored :)

Great article, sir. Thanks for posting it.

Had the pleasure of meeting Major Gant in Iraq in 2006. He's a true warrior.

Just ordered an autographed copy Sir. Looking forward to reading the book and happy to contribute to a worthy cause.

Retread 11-22-2009 22:58

Picked up a copy at the Buckley exchange last drill. Has given me some great ideas on breaking up my training regimen, as well as some excellent advice on breaking a plateau on my running. (I have been stuck at the 14:00 minute mark for a couple of months. My goal is 13:00 before I ship to Selection early next year.)

If anyone has any doubts about the usefulness of this book, get rid of them. It is an excellent tool for the toolbox, and as has been mentioned, one any aspiring QP shouldn't be without.

Thank you sir, for an excellent resource.

Just ordered it, Colonel, & thanks for the video (105-2854146-1135439). It'll be my second read through of the book & since it's my own copy, I'll have my highlighter ready. It's 1 of 3 SOF books I'll have waiting for me state-side when I get home in a couple weeks...a few Christmas presents to myself.

qckslvr13 01-19-2010 20:26

Just purchased the book myself. Can't wait to read it and prepare myself for the jump to the Army (should I plan on doing that from the AF).

qckslvr13 01-22-2010 16:44

Ordered the book on my birthday (January 20th) and received it today. Started reading and I'm already hooked on it. lol

Sir,

I'm not sure who you know at the post office or what kind of favors you owe them now, but everything ever mailed from you has made it to me in record time. I've even had shipments from in town get here later than yours. :D

Got my copy ordered. Will be home from Afghanistan in a few weeksa nd it will be waiting on me...

Kett 04-04-2010 10:02

In the book, it mentions going to warrior-mentor.com for more tips on running and rucking. I did not see anything like that up there. Has it been shifted since this site is up now?

Kansas 04-07-2010 12:12

Finally got my copy after a three week hiatus with UPS losing it... Not all their fault, but they should've had better SA... First day, barely 1300 and I have half of it read. I would be finished right now but have been teaching Human Anatomy classes throughout the morning. Incredibly fast read with great information. Thank you Warrior Mentor for writing it!!!

Hello Kett. Have you tried contacting them through mail by click on the "Free Warrior Tips" link at the top left? From what I saw on the page that is the only thing that I have found that could be it.

CommoNCO 04-08-2010 20:16

I just finished the 30 days, and will be starting up PT 31-210-SWCS in the morning. I'm staying focused on eating right, studying, and doing all I can to train. I'm deployed at the moment, but am really looking forward to getting home so I can get my packet put in and hopefully get the class date i want. Great book so far - and it's something I've been reading every day since I've deployed, and I plan on continuing.

Kett 04-08-2010 20:34

Yep, sure did Via. Haven't heard back yet though....soooo...
Busy world out there. :o)

motivated99 04-12-2010 11:52

I just got the book the other day and read it cover to cover. It had some great insights, especially for someone with very little military experience. If you're looking for motivation, this book certainly helps.

Great Book

:)This is really a good book.

ixo 07-06-2010 15:30

Ordered mine last week! Been checking my mail but the post office overhere is slow. Can't wait to read and reread it!

37F 07-06-2010 16:10

Actually just ordered my second one. Gave my first one to a soldier here so that he can get started. By far the best advice I have received so far.

k-rub 07-06-2010 23:00

I first got ahold of this book in 2006. I have to say that this book was a life changer. It opened my eyes to the SF world and what it would take to get there.

I can honestly say that this book was a huge factor in my success in selection. I can't recommend it highly enough. Thank you for such a great tool Col Martin.

Ewok 07-15-2010 12:26

The husband ordered this book and I read it after he was finished with it, which then directed me to this site.
Thank you, sir, as a wife I found the book well written, very informative and easy to follow.

bubblehead 07-16-2010 07:49

Ordered mine yesterday. Looking forward to reading it!
