Just got selected, class 05-06, as an 18D / Spanish trainee. I wanted to say Warrior Mentor.....thank you for the book, Sir. Most of what was in there, we learned in detail during SOPC, but the foot care parts of the book got me to start good habits from day 1, getting through Basic, AIT, Airborne, and SOPC with not so much as a single blister (of course, the STAR decided to end that streak). Also, it really gave me an extra boost of confidence before shipping out to finally have someone on the other side of the fence say "You CAN do this". So again;
Thank You, Sir.

P.S. Even moreso now that SOPC is gone, I would REALLY recommend this book to anyone thinking about going to Selection.

Congratulations Marvin. Well done.

ordered my book monday.

looking forward to a great read with great information.
thanks for writing the book and sharing the knowledge.
was honored to help out such a great organization such as the SOWF.

Ordered my book last night. always a pleasure to donate to SOWF and to get something back other than knowing I'm contributing to a worthy effort just can't be beat. I've managed to fall into the trap of complacency where my physical fitness is concerned. Time to get it back. Thank you for your effort boss.

Just received my copy in the mail last week, Sir. Lots of great info, Thanks for the resource.

aestreet 06-08-2006 11:35

Bought the book, waited eagerly for it to arrive, ...read it in one sitting. Its a fantastic reference and has given me so much more insight. I bought a copy for my best friend as well and whenever either of us gets down or wants to slack, we pull out the book and get back in gear. Not to mention the reference section is great from reading materials, that and it introduced me to this sight. It has my thumbs up.

Sir, I'm finishing up here in OIF and ordered the book the other day and now have to wait until I get stateside to read it. I keep checking these posts to see who's dropping info on different parts of the book. I'm looking forward to it and I think it's a huge deal helping out the Warrior Foundation. Thanks Sir......TKS

Congratulations, Marvin!

Can someone clarify/confirm that SOPC is gone? I searched this site and googled and didn't find any more information related to this. Also, the official Army website still lists SOPC as part of training for 18x, but it wouldn't be so unusual for a website to be out-of-date. Does this perhaps refer to the changed order/naming of the training classes? I just wanted to make sure I'm understanding correctly the current status of the program.

Thanks,
jfhiller

P.S. I bought and read Get Selected, gave it to a friend in Iraq who is considering applying for SFAS, and bought a replacement. Fantastic book for fitness, mental preparedness, backpacking foot care, etc. even for those not heading for SFAS.

Any ideas on whether or not the book will be available in libraries?

With the proceeds going to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, I'd say its a better idea to buy a copy or two.
