Awesome! My last grandfather died when I was 30. I had a Great Grandfather who died when I was 19 and one who was one month shy of 100 when I was 11. We didn't have texting back then, though. ;)

It's really very special that you've had so many years with him! :lifter And many more, I hope.

Pat

Thanks to everyone for the warm wishes. Sadly, the wife is already ready for me to get back to work...but I'm loving it right now.

That's too cool I miss my grandfather, one died when I was 3 I think and the other was only around until I was 13-14. Happy belated.

Right! Good thing those bass like to jump onto the hook early in the morning. He'll still have plenty of daylight to execute the "Now-That-You're-Retired-You-Have-No-Reason-Not-To-Do" list. ;)

Earlier in the week I gave the boss an earful about the insult-to-injury aspect of the furloughs in that, not only do folks have to key in their furlough days, the vagaries of the system (ATAAPS) means they actually have to submit a REQUEST to be forced to take 2 days off w/o pay. Thank you perfidy of the politicians. Well, no good deed goes unpunished.

Today the boss informed me that, because I'm so short, I no longer have to attend weekly staff meetings.

Oh, roger. That's like a rebate on life molecules. Years ago I let it slip to a known mole that the CoS's leadership style was such that the only reason people came in each day was out of curosity...

I was never asked back to the headshed to brief anything. It was like a walk-off homerun.

Will do Adal .... but like everyone else here on the board, the only thing I really need is, more beer, guns and ammo ....... Not necessarily in that order tho. ;)

Congratulations on your retirement!!! And thank you very much from a grateful American for your service. Obummer and Napoleontano may see you as a threat; but to patriotic Americans you are a hero and deserve honor and respect, not slander and innuendo. To hell with them anyway! What do they know?
