Introduction
All,
It is an honor and a privilege to be here on this forum with those who earned their place in their respective services and those who are prospective candidates like myself. It is beyond gracious for you to allow use of your experience and knowledge. I thank you all for your past, present, and continued service to this country by supporting us. I am currently a 26 YOM Firefighter/EMT-B about to graduate with my Paramedic certification. I have always wanted to serve in this nation's military but I wanted to mature, gain experience, and enlist later to come in and be as much of an asset as I could while still serving my community. JFK said it much better than I ever could. My intention is to enlist 18x and give my all to have even the opportunity to attend the interview that is a career in Special Forces. I have been stalking the shadows of this forum for years now. I read "Message to Garcia" frequently to remind myself of where my mindset should be and the process of getting there is lifelong. The moment one thinks they have learned everything is the same moment they fall behind and are a danger to others. I look forward to potential ties I make with this community and the information I will gain. I hope one day I can do the same for others as you have done for us, TWTPraetorian |

Hello all,
Name's Cody - and I am a 29 y/o civilian interested in enlisting in the National Guard with a REP-63. If I am unable to do that for one reason or another, I hope to serve in a Special Forces Support group. Thank you for having this forum and for all the valuable information it contains. |
Try to go 25 series, you'll be good to go... 25B if I'm not mistaking. SF spt, 112th, JSOC etc, etc...

Hi, my name is Chad.
I am an avid follower of history both Military and NonMilitary. I have a lot of similar interest as other members of this board. I had an "odd" encounter with a person who said they were in the special forces. Several of the things he said don't "ring true" with what I know about how members act. I had a member of another board recommend I come on here and discuss the story to get the straight dope. After I get approved I will related the story in the appropriate forum. |
Howdy,
First and foremost, thanks for allowing me to be a guest on this site. I have spent a majority of the past 72 hours digesting the wealth of information present on this forum. My background - I am 24 year old civilian from Texas with one semester left in graduate school and I’m very seriously considering enlisting as an 18X after graduation. For my Bachelors I majored in Political Science, History, and Arabic Studies. My Masters degree is in International Affairs with an emphasis on National Security & Diplomacy, Cybersecurity, and the Middle East. I have lived abroad, in two Middle Eastern countries and one South American country for extended periods of time. My Arabic is advanced, my Spanish is serviceable enough to get me through basic day to day stuff in a foreign country, and I started learning Farsi a few months ago. The closer I get to graduation, the less a cushy cybersecurity job in Austin or an analyst job in D.C. appeals to me. A mentor of mine with connections in the SOF community recommended I look into serving either as a PJ or in the SF. After much in-depth research and soul-searching, I’ve decided that I am far more interested in and passionate about the primary mission objectives of the SF, which is what brings me to this forum. Although I’m a gym-rat, my running ability isn’t where it needs to be for any potential questions I’d have to even be relevant, so I don’t intend to ask questions on this board for quite some time. I’m just here to learn and soak up as much information as I can whenever I’m not out getting my mile time down. My mouth will be shut and my eyes and ears wide open. Thanks for having me. |
Thank you for having me as a guest.
Those I keep close call me a husband, dad, veteran, student, son, and friend. I am fortunate to have provided myself the opportunities to advance in the ways that I have. Information seeking has brought me here to learn what I can before progressing onto the next stages in life. Very Respectfully, burgundyr1 |

Hi, I'm Kelly! I'm 17. I was born January of 2001. My dad is retired Army so I've lived in many different states, but I grew up in Texas and live in Florida now. I understand that I'm young; please don't hold it against me. I'm not like other people my age--entitled or disrespectful. I believe in earning things, respect, and humility. Some things to know about me:
Strengths: Smart, determined, problemsolver, optimistic, realistic, compassionate, hate to lose, honest, generous, tolerant, self-improver, good listener. Weaknesses: impatient, too nice, too trusting, I can have anger-management issues at times. Likes: coconuts, cheetos, cheesecake, horror, helping people, music, crime/detective shows/dramas, National Geographic Magazine, being outside. Dislikes: liars, selfish/entitled/arrogant/attention-seeking/fake/ignorant people, arguing over trifling things. I'm a little short and somewhat muscular, thin, medium tan skin, brown-eyed, I have medium-long black curly/wavy hair. I love rock n' roll. I wear lots of monochromatic colors and semi-loose clothes. I am also Mexican-American and Puerto Rican. I hope to be a Green Beret someday, and I am planning on enlisting as an 18x. I want to make it clear that I am not trying to be stupid and just want to learn from the true Quiet Professionals. I am honored to be allowed to speak here and will respect to the utmost of my ability. |

Hello,
I am a 6’7” 23 year old EMT currently in paramedic school in the North Dallas area. I have just completed my bachelors in international business with a minor in German. Which was followed by living in Austria and then Germany for approximately 2 months as part of language immersion program. My German is roughly intermediate level and have begun learning Russian. I plan on traveling to Ukraine or Russia for language immersion at some point but will use further forum boards to decide if it is worth it or not. My hope is to use this forum to absorb as much information as possible and once I fulfill my paramedic contract obligations plan to interview for an 18x contract. Thank you for allowing me to join this forum and hear real perspectives from actual quiet professionals. |
Afternoon guys, I'm 26 with a bachelors in economics and math, and have been working as an energy trader for about a year but recently have started processing into the Army. Looking forward to asking questions and hearing from the experienced guys on the forum. All the best

I would like to thank you all for your great service to this nation and look forward to learning from you. Felipe |
Introduction
Greetings everyone,
It is a pleasure to connect with you all and an honor to potentially participate in the discourse and exchange of information facilitated by this outstanding platform. I am 29 years old and live in Miami Beach, Florida. I am married with a 20 month old son and my wife and I are expecting to welcome another baby boy to the family in May of this year. I have a bachelors degree in International Finance and Marketing from the University of Miami, an MBA from Nova Southeastern University, and a Law Degree from Nova Southeastern University. After practicing corporate law for 3 years at a large firm in Coral Gables I left to start my own law firm. My firm, which has been in business for almost three years and has 15 employees, focuses on international corporate law. My grandfather served as an enlisted infantryman in the Marine Corps during which time he fought in WWII, and later joined the Navy as an officer and served in the Korean War. I have always had a strong desire to serve and knew I would do so. However, I took an alternative path insofar as I chose to knock out my educational and business goals first, start and family, and then shift my focus to serving in the military. I speak Spanish fluently (both spoken and written), and am proficient in French, Hebrew, German, and Bulgarian (only spoken). I recently enlisted in the National Guard as an 11B. This MOS choice, and the choice to enlist rather that go the Officer route, was not understood or very well recieved by the various recruiters I dealt with along the way. However, I have always learned every job I have ever done from the ground up, starting with the fundamentals. I felt that the same should apply with respect to my career as a soldier and given my “white collar” career background I believe putting in time and paying my dues as a grunt will not only serve this purpose, but should give me a more comprehensive understanding of how the Army functions as an organization in general as my career progresses with the Army. My ultimate goal is to take the necessary steps at some point during the latter half of my initial 4 year contract to attend SFAS, and the Q Course subsequent thereto. I am extremely aware of the importance of focusing on my 5 meter target, but I always plan multiple steps ahead. I am just wired that way, and this is what allows me to determine what my short term goal, or 5 meter target, needs to be today. I also am aware that I am almost 30 and not getting any younger, but My diet and PT routine will keep me sharp and competing with the young guys for as long as it takes. I look forward to speaking with some QP's and hopefully getting some valuable advice through my journey. I also welcome the opportunity to gain more insight into the SF world and community. I greatly appreciate those who take the time to operate and administer this site, and the QP's for their invaluable contributions to the platform. This site is truly the holy grail for individuals such as myself and it is a privilidge to be a part of it. In the event I am able to add value and contribute to any of the forums based on my own professional experience and background, to the extent same is relevant, I will absolutely do so. |
Welcome all! Read much, post less, and learn.

Introduction
Greetings.
I am a civilian who is interested in learning everything I can about Special Forces. I am here to look around, learn some things, and attempt to apply what I learn to my everyday life. There is a treasure trove of great information here and I am learning a lot. Thank you for having me around. Above all else, I'd like to express a heartfelt thank you to all the Quiet Professionals who have served, are currently serving, and who will serve this great nation of ours. Best Regards, K |
Hello all,
I'm a 23 year old currently residing in the Boston area, recent university graduate with four semesters of instruction in a foreign language (Turkish), and contemplating an 18X contract in the coming months. So thankful that this forum exists, and hope to gain as much knowledge as possible from you guys. Thanks. |
Hello Brothers
Hello everyone. My name is Mitch. 26 years ago I was SSg Harry Myers. I was a 18 C on 163 and 166. I left service due to spinal injuries, lower back and neck.
I was a washout of the 300F1 before going 18C. SSg Dagnon was one of my instructors. Legal name change due to a stalker using ID. LEOs and Courts offered no help and it became a financial drain and ongoing physical security risk to myself, my son and new women in my life. Name change put an end to her abusing my credit and tracking me with those credentials. I left service and worked for Boeing, then Microsoft and some banks in tech industry in Seattle. I liked the work, hated the people. Due to progressive deterioration of injuries, I was in a wheelchair by 2003. It's been a battle dealing with the VA to get proper care, surgeries, and re-learning how to walk. I now volunteer my time and effort for several foundations supporting veterans. After two divorces in this state, and having the state treat me as a criminal both times for nothing more than learning I served in SF, I am now wanting to work with those wanting to change laws to help better protect us in court. I am grateful to be a part of this brotherhood and look to serve it the best I can with what I have. |

Good evening Quiet Professionals, it is an honor and priviledge to be on this site. The knowledge and wisdom here is what I have been looking for, so I am grateful. I served AD in the Marine Corps for 5 years in the Infantry as well as Security Forces, yet feel called for more. I don't want recognition, I want justice and freedom for those oppressed. I just swore in with an ARNG unit as an 11B, and look forward to giving all I have. Should I get afforded the chance I'm seeking to attend a SF tryout, I will go and give everything, thinking of those around me. Should I pass, I will do the same at SFAS. I will look no further for now and am grateful I still get to serve my country.

Interested only in quietly lurking and learning as much as possible. V/R, LC |

Hello. I’m a 30 yo civilian living in Hawaii. I moved here from NM fresh out of high school to go to college but dropped out and decided to try to make it here on my own anyways. That was in 2006. Now I run and own a gym with my partner and feel like I’d like to serve my country. I’m currently interested in the rep63 program with the national guard. Right now I’m just trying to learn all I can. Thank you for the wealth of knowledge here.

Hello,
This is a report with new account, old one was lost for some reason. I retired from the Army in 2013. After retiring had some medical issues to overcome. Now I'm a nursing student in my senior year. Love trout fishing, camping with my grandson, Jeeps. Referred here for learning by some 5th Group men during my 06-08 Govt sponsored vacation. Thank you, Scott |

Introduction
Good afternoon gents,
I stumbled on this site a few months back, looking for some tidbits while I get ready for selection. I am 27, 1LT in a Transportation Co (Guard) in Pennsylvania. I have gone through SFREs in NC and continue to await IST into the NC guard. Once IST is complete, ill be off to SFAS. It might be odd hearing a Transportation Officer going this route, but this is the direction I wish to pursue. If you are a junior officer in an non-combat arms branch, like myself, it is imperative to get with your readiness NCO (and SF unit transitioning into) and stay on top of specific paper work needed! In the mean time, I enjoy daily workouts and finding new methods to improve my overall fitness. Rich |
Introduction
Good morning gentlemen:
I originally was going to wait until I commission to introduce myself but decided it would be best to write an introduction so that I can reach out to members on the site (there are quite a few posts/threads that have been answered hundreds of times either somewhere on this forum or elsewhere on the internet and I won't add to that clutter). In January, I signed my 09S contract for active duty. I want to branch Infantry, Armor, or Engineering. I am currently double majoring in Computer Engineering and Applied Mathematics and am minoring in Physics with a 3.65 GPA and am graduating this month. I have worked as a researcher at my university and have a book chapter published on neural networks. I hope to publish one or two more papers before I ship to basic as I wish to apply to be an instructor at West Point in the future. I imagine it will be difficult to conduct research while active duty. As for hobbies, almost all of my free time is spent training BJJ or Muay Thai. I try to train at least 8-10 hours per week. I also run and do calisthenics two to three times per week to increase my max number of pushups, situps, and decrease my runtime. I also like to read and am currently teaching myself Latin. As far as research for Special Forces goes, I have read Get Selected by LTC Joseph Martin and have read through much of this site. It will be about 3 years before I can even attend SFAS so I am much more concerned about doing well at OCS so that I can branch Infantry. If any of you wish to reach out or have any advice for me (whether you be SF or not) I encourage you to me a PM. This is the main reason why I am posting in the first place. Very Respectfully, Paul |
Welcome and the very best of luck! Train hard.

Hello,
I have been following this site a few years now. I felt it was time to introduce myself. I am a retired 18E looking to connect with other likeminded individuals and have polite discussion on variety of topics of interest. |
Introduction
First thing first, thank you to all of you who take time out of your day to answer everyone's question about SF. I came to this website with a million and one questions and after reading through this forum for the past 3 days they have all been answered and more.
My name is Jeffrey, I was born in Honduras and moved here to the US at the age of 7. I have been raised all my life 20 minutes from D.C. in Northern Virginia. I have come to love this country and all the opportunities it has given me and my family. I will be joining the Army as an 11x with hopefully an option 4. I have gone through MEPS and been cleared, just waiting to sign my contract. Initially I wanted to join as an 18x but being a permanent resident I will go the route of joining first and then submitting my SF packet. I have read Get Selected twice now. With this forum and Get Selected I'm on full throttle with "Cast or Tab." I look forward to learning more from this forum as I go through my journey in the Army. Thanks for having me and thanks for making this site possible. |
