Introduction Post
Hello, members of this forum. In an effort to respect the formalities of this site, here's an introductory post.
My name is Steven. I filled out my profile as requested, so the simpler information that you might be interested in is where it should be, but nonetheless I'll go into detail. I'm 15, a freshman in high school. Honor Roll student, part of my schools Army JROTC program. My father was in the Army, though it's been years since I've spoken to him, and I've forgotten details on his behalf. My grandfather was an E4 in the Marine Corp, toured the Philippines in the early 80's I believe. My uncle an E5 in the Marine Corp, toured in Iraq and served from '02 to '10. These two men shaped my respect and admiration for the armed forces, along with other family members of mine. I came to this site in the hopes of gathering information. So far, the information vastly exceeded my expectations. I do plan on joining the Army. I feel in myself that there is no reason I couldn't make it, and I believe I have the mental fortitude to excell. The Special Forces, I strive for. I don't know If I have what it takes to join the Quiet Professionals when my time comes, but every fiber of my being will put forth the effort to fill the space needed. If I don't make it, I won't feel as though I've failed; it will be a learning experience nonetheless, and I'll grow from it. But if I do, I'll see it as a new milestone reached, with an infinite amount more to surpass within my career. Though, I still have quite a bit of life to go through before I truly know what will become of me. As I am 15, and the Board Rules discourage posting from my age group, I shall try to keep my posting to a minimum. ~Steven~ |
Introduction
I've been scrubbing this site for knowledge for the last couple weeks and I cannot get enough.
I am Active Duty USAF on a 6 year contract with 4 down come March. I was selected for promotion to E5 with a line number for 2016 but after reading the prior service business rules for 18X I'm wrestling with hoping for a determination or staying E4. The pay would be nice with two kids but I'm willing to do what I need to. My wife is 100 percent supportive of my goal. For some backround, I'm 23 but I've spent half of my life overseas. I grew up in Mexico, Chile and the PI. I've spent at least 6 months on four of the seven continents and picked up some language skills along the way. My stateside home is in the Ozarks and that means loving the wilderness and all it has to offer. I look forward to reading more here and fighting for that 18X contract and what follows when the time comes. In the meantime, more PT. |

Introduction
Greetings Ladies and Gentlemen,
I am an eight year veteran of the United States Army. After a two year break civilian side and some college under my belt I am interested in coming back. As a former 11b my best option (so I am told) at this time is to enlist as an 18x. In the early years of my first term I had entertained notions of taking the plunge but optempo and other considerations took precedence so this is an excellent opportunity for me. The way I see it, if I'm going to get the chance to be evaluated and maybe chosen to be a part of the best community of soldiers in the Army then I better be ready to give it my best shot. Garnering all the intel I can from the members and posts of this board is one facet of my preparation. I'd like to thank those quiet professionals responsible for this resource for their dedication to aiding prospects, enlightening the curious, and (my favorite) exposing the liars and frauds! Ren11b |
Hello everyone,
I am currently serving in the Air Force reserve as an aircraft mechanic. I've been in for 3 years, my initial intentions were to stay in the reserve, deploy when needed and build a career here stateside after I finished school. During my time in I've had a desire for more. After research and soul searching I enlisted in the Army under an 18x contract, I leave in a couple of months for OSUT. I found this website while researching what to expect and how to better prepare. Just here for information to hopefully make it and thrive in this community. Thank you for allowing me to be here. |

I'm Steve, a civilian, in school to be a Paramedic and trying to discern if the life of a special forces soldier is what I want to dedicate myself to.
Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions. |
Used to visit the site often for research and entertainment purposes. Now I am back to stay in the loop with current events and SIGACTS.
5th GRP from '08-'14; 18B and 18F. Didn't really want to hang it up...but priorities change and some situations dictate necessary action. Previous activities include being a Dog Face Soldier for a bit before making my way to Bragg and the Deuce. |

Hello gentlemen,
My name is Aaron. I am here to learn as much as possible about Special Forces prior to enlisting. My plan is to enlist as a Rep-63 in fall 2016. I live close to Springfield, MA so my goal is to join C Company 1/20th Group. I have a bachelors degree and currently work as a pharmacy technician. I am also enrolled in an EMT training program. The rest of my time is spent getting mentally and physically prepared for the road ahead. Thank you for the opportunity to observe a small part of your world. |

Currently 88M reservist working a packet to "re-enlist" under 18X. Apparently according to the prior-service business rules and my TIS, I have the opportunity to go through OUST and SOPC. Seems like the best an most likely way to make it to SFAS well prepared. 6 weeks into a hybrid workout between the THOR3 lifting routine and the GET SELECTED run/ruck plan and swimming on "off" days. Reading "Unbeatable Mind" by Mark Divine. Have to wait for a conditional release from the reserve in order for this to go operational- cautiously optimistic about it coming through.

Hi I am 19 years old and I'm a student at Michigan state university. I am seeking to further gain knowledge in this field. I am very interested in joining the Military, it is something I have always wanted to do, as I have a strong urge to serve this country that has given me so much. Joining the military runs in my family as my dad, and My grandparents all served.
I would like to thank all who have served and took the ultimate risk to defend this country. Thank you. |
I served w/ 1st, 3rd, 7th and 10th SFG(A)...at least until I got tired of each Group and did something new...hence the global name. I am retired now working a SOF/USSOCOM WW program. Thanks for the signup...now let me figure out how to use this site. Fortunately, I have a fellow SFer who works here with me who does what he's told...thanks!

Greetings all. My name is Randy. I retired from the Army Reserve Components after 34 years and 9 months. I served as both enlisted and officer. I began my part-time military career by signing up in a Louisiana Army National Guard SF Unit in 1972. I was in college, on our school’s parachute team, and learned of an SF Unit Breaux Bridge LA through a friend who was a member of that unit. I loved jumping out of planes! During my six months in the unit before I went to basic I was included in many activities including rappelling off interstate bridges under construction. I did not know that my unit would be deactivated while I was on IADT. To make a long story short, I ended up transferring to a Mississippi National Guard SF Unit where I was working on my “paper flash”. I had some great training, weekend drills, jumps and AT while I was there.
Fate would have it that in 1975 my civilian job moved me beyond the 5 hours I was driving to drills. As a corporal, I simply could not drive any further. I transferred to an Army Reserve Medical Unit and was trained as a medic. This got me interested in medicine and I ultimately went to medical school. So it wasn't all bad. I was commissioned as a Medical Corps Officer in the AR upon receiving my MD and served out the remainder of my service as such which included seven mobilizations. I’ve always wished I could have completed my SF training. On one of my mobilizations I worked with a co-located ODA in Afghanistan, particularly their 18D. It reminded me of my earlier career plans. I admire all of the Quiet Professionals and am honored to be here. With participation in this site, I hope to increase my knowledge of SF topics, maintain situational awareness and maybe contribute to the shared information. I encourage all of these young guys here to pursue their dreams. |
Jake. 24. Columbus, OH. Civilian. Hopefully 18x soon.

Hello, my name is Alex. I'm 24 and I've been in the Army Reserves for nearly five years. I was in the process of getting a conditional release a year ago. Unfortunately I was involuntarily transferred to a "deploying unit" which I would have been fine with if they actually deployed. I'm starting the process again now that the unit is no longer "mobilizing." My plans are to transfer to active duty as an 18X. Thank you for the wealth of knowledge this forum offers.

God fearing, Family Loving, Georgia boy. Changed my life around to serve in the military in order to help and protect not just Americans but others around the world that may not be able to themselves. I Went to Chattahoochee Technical College for Para-medicine, then changed my major to physical therapy. Left college to join the navy, recruiting process didn't work out so I've taken a good friends advice to join the army. The caliber of men I've had the opportunity to meet along the way has been a blessing and taught me more than any book in college could have. It's set an example that I feel I need to uphold now. I can't imagine myself doing anything else at this point. I WILL and HAVE TO earn that green beret.
So hats off to the men serving this country right now and the guys who put their lives on the line in the past. I'm truly thankful for you picking up the shield and sword for us and others around the world. Train hard, play hard, and live everyday like it's your last |
akidd, welcome! Now that wasn't so hard to do was it?
Brevity and conciseness will take you farther than genuflecting with wordiness. BTW SF is not anything like SOF. They had to add the "O" for all them "O"thers (not including EOD) ;) |
Thanks
Thanks for letting me be here. I am hoping to find information on an individual.

I am a 37 year old civilian living in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. I recently moved here with my family to open multiple athletic training facilities after working as a strength and conditioning coach in Philadelphia, PA.
I have joined this forum because I have experience in working with friends and family in both the regular branches of the military as well as SF. I greatly admire the sacrifice and service of all who serve and want to help whenever and wherever I can. My skill set is physical preparedness training and I have a background in many different philosophies of training. I look forward to helping anyone on here who needs and advice or assistance in terms of physical training either for deployment or selection training. Thank you. |
