More that I'm still getting used to working it right. I think I just focus more with the left.

I'm looking at a Springfield Armory Loaded. Simple.

Isn't it nice to be able to walk into a store and give a gun a good new home?:D

Indeed. The trouble I am having now is there are too many choices...

It's big, but doesn't feel oversized to me...but I'm also 5'11" 200lbs. I love the single action trigger feel, and double action is fine. Weirdest thing though: I'm more accurate with weak-side offhand than I am with two hands. Any ideas?

Out of curiosity, what unit, agency or PD are you working with that is issuing the H&K Mk23 ? :munchin

How did they acquire them ?

It's an original USSOCOM purchase from back when they came out. Check my profile and you'll understand.

As for how? Our arms room traded almost all of our M9s for them.

I knew the SEAL Teams sent them all back to Crane, just didn't expect them to wind up with USASFC.

Guess somebody said "I'll bite" :D

My understanding was that the Groups asked for them so that they would have a .45 ACP weapons system to get Army funded .45 ammo allocations.

I have never seen a team guy carrying one outside of a range, but I have not been everywhere or seen everything.

Or, you could simply say you're a computer network guy in Spt Co/GSC/whatever in 10th Group, and its either your assigned weapon or one you like to draw from the arms room to use on the range.

As far as I know they usually have 1911s for .45, but it gets attention.

Radio shop guy to be specific, and it is my assigned sidearm for convoys/missions/etc.

Apologies for any offense.

The 1911s are probably not Army type classified and purchased. Most likely, they are MFP11 purchased. The Army usually does buy the ammo, IF you have an issued weapon in your inventory in that caliber. It is a work-around, and no one I knew wanted to hump that crew served handgun more than once.

If you like it, more power to you.

kimber

currently packing the kimber desert warrior, basically your usual 1911 but with a desert tan finish, railing underneath the barrel, lanyard loop down by the magazine weld, night sights, and non-slip gripping. last I had read this was becoming standard issue for MARSOC teams, as it was the pick for Marine Det.1, the proving unit that was created before MARSOC become offical. Always pack hydroshock in it, hell I nail someone in the shoulder its still gonna take their arm off, lol.

Like I said, I'm not a small guy, so the size isn't really an issue to me. Hell, my rifles have been shrinking since I joined. First it was an M16A2 with a 203, then just an A2, and now a minimally equipped M4. (Aimpoint and vert grip) I guess I just see the size as the only flaw to a superb weapon, so it feels justified. That, and it's one hell of an intimidator. Some of the guys here nicknamed it the robocop gun.

In the base I carry using a Blade-tech Kydex holster with the tek-lok belt loop and a drop and offset adapter, and on mission I use the Blackhawk Omega VI drop-leg I was issued.

G37

In reference to the shock wave I sent about carrying the G37 and only firing it to kill a snake.

At the time I had just switched agencies and was issued the G37. The agency that I work for does not seem to understand the need for practice on the range. I have spoken about the matter with no avail. For the record I have fired around 500 rounds out of my own pocket.

I still get upset when talking about it. Here is what I am working with here. First thing is that their is a total of 6 officers. Spoke to the Chief about ordering practice ammunition...no problem....got told to order a whopping 600 rounds.

The 600 rounds are for qualification.

my current pistol is a GRP from Nighthawk Custom. It is my second foray into the 1911 (first being a very nice SS delta elite when i was sent to the sandbox the first time, LOL, wound up having to leave it with my dad..BOOT !).

it is a solid piece, i do miss the alloy of my 220R, but im dead nuts accurate with my grp. it has always been a money issue for me, i finally had the money for a custom 1911.

ammo, thats usually always fed-tac (issued), i have run the rangers and golddots (the latter being the most accurate, but the fed-tacs are our issue ).

i carry in a new MSP from kramer, a VERY comfortable setup IMHO, and on duty its a 6280 and my surefire x200.
