This past weekend my brother and I took my little man for a hiking trip along the Au Sable trail in northern lower peninsula MI. My son got to break in his new pack for the overnight trails and we saw some beautiful scenery on the day hikes (I let him go pack free for those). Little man toughed out some stormy weather and had a blast.
When I asked him his favorite part of the trip he said, "Getting to do this cool stuff with you and my uncle!" :lifter |

Great pics, even better weekend memories; The Brits would say, "Brilliant"...they are right. RF 1 |
Nothing better for you and the boy than time in the woods...

Well my happy thought today is that we did not wash away from the hurricane as it came to cross over here in Puerto Rico. And an even better one is the boss gave the office a paid day off due to the storm.

Glad to hear you are safe, B.

Happy thought for today....I was thanked by roughly 15 soldiers for kicking their ass at PT. 12 of them just came off the weight control program. Oh and 9 days before I head to SFAS.

High-tech fishing gear

My determined little fisherman put together a fishing pole from line, hook and stick he scrounged at the river. Then he landed a salmon. :lifter
He almost caught another, a whopper of a fish that broke his line and stole his hook. It's his first "the one that got away" story. :D S. |

More fun at the lake.
Took the kids out after school last Wednesday and in the morning Saturday. Found a great spot 10 minutes from the Stateline launch ramp. The spot has a very long barrier island between it and Lone Rock bay. Broke a prop (had a production flaw -- bubble in the metal) while tubing later on Saturday. Went back to the same area after school on Tuesday. Kid #5, 3 years old, swam the distance by himself (in a ski vest) to the island in picture #2...a total of 3 times. :lifter Dropped kids #2, 3, and 4 off at school @ 0800 this morning, hit the water @ 0900, back out of the water and picked up kid #4 by 1200. Found a beautiful spot up Navajo Canyon about 25 minutes from Antelope Point launch ramp. Spot was shielded from the wakes in the canyon, was shaded, and had nice clear water. Picture #3 is toward Navajo Canyon, pic #4 is the way in (wife swimming with kid #5 along the shore), and pic #5 is the end of the side canyon. Found some hoofprints in the sand next to where we beached, but didn't see any critters other than lizards, toads, and fish. Page is a wonderful place to live. |
