Intro
This is my failure to do so when I joined this page in 2010.
Here is my introduction. I am a 30. I am a Combat Vet with 7 years of service, 1.5 of that in Iraq (2003). I left on "bad terms" since I had an alcohol problem at the time and was removed from service accordingly. I was once a candidate for SFAS and was a non-select, I never quit. Getting married young and having a child soon after was a decision I made that ultimately prevented me (with respect to my ex-wife and kid) from choosing to go back. I regret that decision since I am very far from being eligible to ever join again. (unless "I killed myself and was reincarnated", as the recruiter stated).. In the last year and a half of my service, I turned to alcohol for my problems but eventually got help while I was in.. Consequently, I was too ashamed to contact my old friend and mentor Billy Neil. In August of 2009 I learned that he died on my enlistment date's 6 year anniversary: 22 March 2008, in Afghanistan. I never knew... Since then, I went down an even rougher path than alcohol and got into a lifestyle that would eventually straighten me out, or kill me. I became a literal "outlaw" in the eyes of most. I gave up on my future. I made a lot of mistakes, and ultimately I fucked up a lot of my life at the time. I have been away from this board for the simple fact that I have nothing to offer except, support for those who have gone where I didn't make it. Since my troubles, I have became a student again, started working an honest job, and have associated myself within circles that live with No Excuses, and No Mercy whatsoever. I have owned my mistakes in this life, I have accepted those mistakes, and I don't repeat them. It has been a tough ride, but I am still here. Again, it is my failure to introduce myself when I joined this board. I am never sorry, but I do apologize for any disrespect, and I have much Love, Loyalty and Respect for those that do what I can't do because of my decisions. |

Hello all,
I want to take this opportunity to thank you for allowing me to join your site. I am currently a senior in college with an 18x contract and ship date for July 2015. I truly appreciate all of the information that this site has and how much it has helped in my training and preparation for what is ahead. As I eagerly await for the beginning of my military service, I will continue to strive to be the best that I can be. Thanks again, Jbaker |
I'm a former military brat of a dad that was in SF during the Vietnam era. I have fond memories of living in the Ponderosa housing area in Fayetteville, NC , in Bad Tolz, and Ft. Devens. There were others places before that but the above are the most memorable.
I went the college route after high school, but did serve 6 years in the ANG 122nd CAMS Ft. Wayne, IN loading munitions on F-4 aircraft, the same aircraft that provided air support for the ol' man in Vietnam. No match for SF obviously! If there are any other dependents from that era feel free to contact me. I was a twin if that jogs any memories. My dad, Msgt. Billy G. Baird retired in 1973 and is still going strong going on 79. Both my parents work out three days a week! They live in an apartment above my garage when not in Largo, Florida. P.M me if you want to make contact and I'll pass it by the Team Sgt. :D Thank you! |

My Introduction
Hello gentleman, scholars, and bumps in the night.
This is my intro, You all can call me PM or doc, either works. I am currently in and have been for the past 7 years. I reside in a sleepy town in the Rockies and am an avid mountain man some would say. I currently work in a FST. My trade is that of the 68W. I have been pursuing this tract for some time now and now at the end of my first run I am re upping with the 18X contract. I welcome all advice, info, and leadership that any QP can provide to myself. Beyond that here is to my hat in the ring. Doc |
This is my second introduction.
I graduated the q course dec 2013. I read the bulletin rules and stickies and haven't found anything about getting vetted for QP tag. So I thought I would post here before I message a mod. |
Prior service Air Force PJ washout. Was accepted back into PJ or CCT after 3.5 years, but had to wait two years before I got a class. Got out of the air force under the DOS rollback for a "shortcut" to SF. Like a lot of other shortcuts, it didnt workout. Had to wait two years before I could join the army with an 18X contract. Gettin the paperwork rollin this summer. Thanks for all the information in advance

Hi, I was a scout in the second Cav from 1999-2004, and finished my enlistment in the 1/509th. I had never posted any thing so I figured I might introduce myself first. I joined this site to absorb knowledge from subject matter experts.

Hello everyone,
As my name indicates, I'm an 89D (EOD Sergeant) who was born and raised in Texas. I'm currently stationed at JBLM in a Technical Escort unit. I've always had an interest in Special Forces, but my PT wasn't up to my standards to apply. EOD grabbed me up and I've had a blast doing my job. I've had the chance to talk with some other EOD techs who have supported no only Special Forces ODAs but also; SEALS, MARSOC, and international forces. The stories I've heard are reigniting my desire to apply to Special Forces. I'm currently entertaining the idea of reclassing to Special Forces. I've joined this site to get a little more intel on what goes into being a Special Forces Soldier, and what the community is like. |
Introduction
Hello,
I created an account last May to utilize the search bar. I passively surfed through the information on this site for a short while with not a lot of time to allocate. I now intend to be spending much more time thoroughly reading the content on here. I absolutely loath putting any information about or related to myself on the internet but out of respect to the creators and administrators wishes I make my introduction. I'm a young man about 2 years out of high school, who lives in the Midwest. Very long have I aspired to be an operator. I've had many obstacles in obtaining a chance to be a Special forces operator. I wish to serve the people of my country and I have assessed I would do best to serve with my abilities as a Green Beret (plus I'll get to shoot guns, do a lot of cool stuff, and help people around the world.) I also wish to be as helpful and useful to the operators already in SF by preparing to be the best I can be now. I have secured a 18x contract which will have me shipping off to basic in early summer this year. Until then I will be on here gleaming as much useful information I can. lastly I would like to thank the creators of this website and those who administer it, putting in time and energy to nourish aspiring operators like myself. thank you. |
I heard this is the place on the internet for people who are both quiet and professional. Sounds lovely. Is anyone serving tea?
This is me, btw. I'm very shy. http://fr.linkedin.com/in/rachelmarsden/ |

Hello everyone,
I've been lurking on the boards for several months now absorbing any and all pertinent information. I am a 27 year old civilian from eastern Connecticut, i just went through MEPS in Springfield MA earlier this month and am just waiting on a tattoo waiver to clear (approved 2-5-15) before beginning my journey into the REP63 pipeline with the RI NG. Military has been a lifelong dream of mine, I was unfortunately told I could not join in highschool because of an injury sustained in a car accident, (broken patella), so I went to college and got a career, but recently found out that my injury is no longer an issue and I could join and try out, so ten years later here I am. I am a licensed electrician, adrenaline junky, competition rifle and pistol shooter, and freedive spearfisherman. Looking forward to learning all I can to help me on my way to becoming a quiet professional. -Sam |
Hello everyone. I found this site when I went looking for warrior-mentor.com, which apparently doesn't exist anymore, after I purchased a get selected book for SFAS. I am 19 years old, working on my second semester in college. I am in ROTC (uncontracted) and am wrestling whether or not I should do National Guard in the meantime. At the moment I have lot's of decisions to make. My main goal is to be a Green Beret. It's all I've ever wanted and I probably wouldn't even join the army if I couldn't go SF. So basically right now I'm floating around hearing different advice from different people and still not sure how to get to where I want to go. So, any advice from someone who has actually been there is welcome. Thanks for sharing your knowledge on a site like this, I'll be reading all I can.

Hi everyone! I found this forum through Google, after seeing that one of the previous forums ran by QP's is now exclusively for QP's (correct me if I am wrong, it's been a long time since I last visited). I am 20 years old, Sophomore college student (taking interdisciplinary studies (psychology and history), considering of pursuing my minor in Philosophy).
I plan to make start a career in the military after college as an enlisted personnel, and eventually go to SFAS (as SF is an NCO dominated career field). I hope to learn more in the forum and hopefully contribute in one way or another! Glad to be here. :munchin |
NC/SC, I'am here to read, learn and keep up with current events. Thank you for allowing me in your house.

I found the site in 2008 and signed on. But apparently never introduced myself. I posted on the ANGRC-109 line and it was recommended I do so.

Hello everyone. Firstly, thank you to the QPs on this forum, it is a unique and inspiring experience to be able to talk to and listen to verified personnel. I am a 17 year old highschool senior, and plan on doing AROTC, with the goal of one day joining SF (I'm sure you hear this a lot, I'm not going to try and explain as to why I am the best or why I will never quit, blah blah). Here's a quick checklist of myself to help describe who I am:
Run Cross Country & Track, used to play Football. Love reading anything about the intelligence community, military, international studies, etc. Truly love to learn, with anything related to history being my favorite. Do well in school. Thank you again for allowing me on this forum, I will do my best to research and read all I can before starting any threads. |
hello
Getting ready to 18 X. Got a while before I am fit enough to do well. So I'll be asking some questions. Focus is on the 19th group in Utah.

Hi all,
I would like to thank all of you that have served this country. I am a 21 year old college student. After I graduate I plan on signing a 18x contract. This site is such a wealth of information, it has been great to look through and learn from. I just ordered bunch of books that have been mentioned on here. Most of my family has served and I am excited to carry that on. One day many months from now I hope to be posting my graduation date on here. Till then I'll be busting my butt to get there. :lifter |

Hello Everyone
I'm a current infantry officer in the Guard with aspirations to go SF once I'm eligible. And with having said that I'm gonna shut the hell up, read and learn what I can. |
Hiya! I've been a member for nearly 6 years and just noticed today that I didn't post an intro
Served as a Military Police Officer in the Corps from 2001 to 2005. Logged in today looking for some info, because I'm thinking about going back in. More on that later as needed. Thanks for making this community possible. |

Howdy!
I am 23 yrs old, finished my B.S. in Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M May 2014 and am currently working on my Masters in International Affairs at the same university (expected graduation May 2016). I have interest in going into special operations once I graduate. In the presence of the quantity of information already on here I expect to be more a fly on the wall than anything else: I appreciate the knowledge you QPs have put out here for us. |
Hello, I am currently in a masters program for security studies in DC. Upon graduation I want to enlist through the 18x program and join SF to serve my God, my country, and those who need help. Thank you all for your service and sacrifice.

I served for 5.5 years in the 82d as an infantryman. Was medically retired last year :boohoo and recovering with the long term goal of returning one way or another.

I am a 29 year old civilian pursuing an 18x contract. I've been working with a recruiter since the beginning of the month and have everything complete to sign a contract, however I'm in a holding pattern at this point until more training slots are available. I turn 30 in June so hopefully they open up some slots soon. I intend to join regardless of if I obtain a coveted 18x contract slot, as I feel it's my duty and calling. I've been lurking on the site for the past couple of years and have learned much. My thanks to all who spend their personal time to contribute. I hope to have an opportunity to be assessed to join your ranks.

Intro for Chaszs
First of all, I want to thank everyone here for their service and for putting this site together.
Now for my introduction. I am 17 and I graduate from highschool this spring. I am hoping to take 2 years of college, then see if I can enlist with an 18X contract if they still exist in 2 and 1/2 years. I have already had most of my questions answered by existing threads, but still have a few left. Thanks again, Chaszs |
I am a 21 year old Air Force reservist living in MD. Currently working on obtaining an 18X contract. I am actually pretty excited to say that I am scheduled to take the DLAB this week. I have been reading as much as possible on this forum. Thanks for the plethora of information that is shared here.

Hello everyone,
I am currently a second year pharmacy school student at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City, OK. I have always wanted to become a Special Forces soldier and have recently been considering an 18X contract after school. I came across this website while researching Special Forces and thought it would be a great source of information about the community. If everything goes as planned, I will be lucky enough to earn the opportunity to compete to be selected. Thanks to everyone who has served and those who made this site possible! |

Hey dudes,
I am 25 and a MA candidate for Global Security Studies at Johns Hopkins. This seems to be the only solid source of intel on the 18X/REP63 program, so I'm excited to get started. I became interested in the 18X program over 6 years ago and have since read most of the important literature. I'm currently working out some kinks with whether active or guard would be best for my situation but either way I hope to ship by Jan-2016. I'm in the D.C. area and love to ruck, train, and camp. PM me if anyone is interested. Cheers, J |
Hi all,
I've been around here for awhile as an observer, but I have recently made the first step to obtain an 18x contract. I received a 98 on my ASVAB this morning and will be taking my physical on the 4th. My PFT score is a 271, which I am looking to improve. A little about me. I have always had an interest in the military and history for as long as I can remember, which has definitely influenced my decision to follow this path. I grew up in the Hudson Valley on the other side of the hills from USMA. I'm an Eagle Scout, and recent college graduate with a BS in Business and Economics. I am currently working within the marketing field. I don't expect to post much but just to take in as much info as I can. |
Hello,
Im a 23 year old National Guardsman living in Wyoming. I've been taking in tons of information off of this website for the past couple years. Finally making my first post and becoming part of the forum. Look forward to learning and growing more and more each and every day. Have a great day all. |

Greetings, gentlemen, and thank you for your participation.
My name is Rittenhouse, from the Buckeye State. Call me what you will. After completing a few BA degrees at University I spent a few years drifting around the East and West coasts, looking for adventure and creative methods of income. That was all fine for awhile. Though where I could never seem to find myself was in the middle of that one extremely unique situation, in which the person working next to you would undoubtedly give anything in order to see you succeed, and vice versa. I'm looking for a brotherhood. I am currently in the process of joining the US Army. I'm off the street, so to say, a recruit, a greenhorn, but from what I can see from out here looking in it seems that this move is the right one for me, and I plan on sticking around for awhile to be sure. I've narrowed my curiosities down to a handful of jobs that are available in the ranks, for now, and I came to this specific website in order to research and ask a few specific questions regarding the 18 series that are yet to have been answered me. I look forward to learning a few things from you, and I would be grateful for any one of you who is willing to read and respond with some wise advice. Thank you again for your time and service. Rittenhouse |
(Re?)Introduction
Gentlemen,
I would have sworn that I introduced myself when I first became a member, but I can't seem to find it now... My name is Terry and I am a 45 year-old sergeant in the Michigan Army National Guard. I have deployed to Iraq with a LRS-C and to Afghanistan with leg infantry as a company senior medic. My valuable parting gift from Afghanistan was a shoulder surgery, which delayed my plans to go to a selection for a NG SF unit. My shoulder is back to 100% and I am training. As a civilian I work as a paramedic in a level 1 trauma center's ED and go to school, learning languages and chemistry. I have read many threads over the years and value your experience and advice. |
My intro...
Hello to everyone.
Been lurking on this great site for a long time. Working my way toward a shot at SFAS, SFQC, and a life in SF. I'm a former Navy radioman, been out a while, entered Army NG last year in WA as 88M but did an inter-state transfer back to my home state of Colorado and reclassed as 11C. Determined to find out what I'm made of and make a difference in this world. Huge appreciation for all the QPs on here for sharing their knowledge, wisdom, and attitude! |
