Hello, all! I have been lurking on this forum for a few months, and just recently became a member. I am a SGT, currently with 2nd Cavalry Regiment in my SQDN S6 (25U). I have been in the army for 4 and a half years now. Working with a recruiter now to attend SFAS in March/April '15.

Hello members! I'm a 19 year old sophomore in college currently attending the Woodlands, Texas Firefighting Academy and will be getting my EMT-B this summer. While I love the Fire service, I dream of being part of the SF family. I have been doing PT for 4 years, USMC ROTC, and training specifically for SFAS for several months (as of Sep. 2014). After I get out of Fire School, I plan on enlisting through the 18x program. While I'm open to His decisions, I believe God's plan for me is to become part of this elite group of men! Thank you SF guys for your sacrifice!

Hello everyone. I, like many, have been observing these forums for some time now and only recently decided to join the ranks. I'd like to give a huge thank you for the wealth of information freely offered here! I look forward to putting the wisdom of those that have gone before me into practice very soon. I'm shooting for SFAS in Mar/Apr 15 if all works out.
Cheers! |
Introduction
Hello all,
I have been lurking here for a while, reading the posts and trying to learn as much as possible. I am currently an Armor officer and spent my time both as a Scout PL and Troop XO, currently in purgatory as the Squadron S1 since we don't have any AG officers in the unit. I have a SFAS date in April and am focused on preperation both physically and mentally. Working my way through the THOR3 programming and then after christmas break will switch to the SORB prep program. I plan on finishing up physical preperation with the SF recruiters here on post for the last 6-7 weeks before the school date. Mentally I am reading all the professional reading I can on SF and SOF trying to absorb all the information that I can. I will take the TABE test before I go and I don't expect any problems with that. I am also working on a graduate degree but I expect I will have to put that on hold if selected. I am not really looking for any specific advice or guidance, pretty much all my questions have been answered through the forums, but anything additional would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to reading more posts and learning whatever I can before I report to Bragg. Thanks, Ben |
Introduction
22 year old in the 18x enlistment process. My goal is to be one of the coveted "Green Berets". I can and will do whatever I resolve to do. I know this will easily be the hardest task I will ever take on. Slacked off most of my life. Looked to what was comfortable, rather than helpful. I wish for nothing more in my life as of right now but to become a member of special forces within the next few years. Anyone in the Northern Virginia area (Not exclusive to, though), feel free to contact me as I would be more than grateful to learn from a member of SF or someone who is currently training for SF and perhaps train with them.

Quick Intro
Good Day,
My name is Christian Lara I am 24 years old, born and raised in Southern California. I was going to join the Army Field Band Jazz Ambassadors as their Audio Engineer but failed to get selected after the audition. Right now I am considering joining the Army as an 42R-9X . Joining Special Forces has been something I have always wanted to do since I was young, mainly for the purpose of helping those that do not have a voice and cannot be heard. 18D is something I can definitely see myself doing, though I know that it is not easy and comes with a lot of uphill battles as far as earning that MOS and the SF tab. I hope to do as much research as I can and learn what it means to not only become Special Forces but to live as one as well. |

Good Morning,
I'm Jourdan. 29 year old Paramedic living in Chicago looking to get into the fight. Glad to have this website here which thus far has proved to be more than resourceful for training and motivation. Any of ya'll in Chicago, PM me and your first bar tab is on me.. you just have to come to the bar I pour at is my only condition! Jourdan |
Hello, I've been a member awhile. Haven't felt the need to post as of yet so I didn't introduce myself. I'm 29 and headed to selection Oct14. I want to thank all those who've asked and answered questions. I've spilled over these conversations for years. And now I'm going. This website has been the best resource as of yet. Hell of an invention. I appreciate it and will most certainly continue to reap the harvest of this awesome brain buffet. Catch y'all down the road, and thank you once again.

Introduction
Hello all,
I'm a college senior recently sworn into DEP with an 18X contract. I ship to OSUT in a little under a year; meanwhile I'm finishing up my degree and getting myself physically and mentally prepared for the demands of military service. This past summer, I worked for a couple former Soldiers who were Infantry officers in the 75th. Knowing that I was an Army hopeful, They encouraged me to look into the 18X program. After a few months of internet research, phone calls, and face-to-face conversations with current and former Quiet Professionals, I made my commitment and enlisted as an X-ray. The FID aspect of the SF mission is what really drew me. Foreign languages and cultures have always been an interest of mine, and teaching is one of my great passions. I see the path ahead of me as a way to combine these loves and be a positive contributor on a global stage. Best Regards. |
Introduction
Hello all,
I work in IT, and live in Los Angeles. I was in the USMCR for about eleven years, half a lifetime ago. There isn't really anything too interesting about my prior military service. I Deployed with my first unit during the '91 Gulf War; we were a reserve TOW missile company that was CHOPd to the 2d Tank Battalion prior to the start of the ground war. I enjoy reading military history, about Special Forces in particular, and it was a Google search that led me to this site some three years ago. I have read the boards pretty regularly since then. I never did post an intro, so I thought I would do so now, even though I don't really have anything to add to the discussions here. Thanks for having me. |
Hello to all the good folks here and thank you for allowing me here. I live in Johnston County, NC and ended up here by accident looking for a friend. I am a maint. mechanic and Pastor, I have 3 kids and I am very blessed. I found my friend who came home dying from ALS, he is medically retired from the 7th group. I was hoping to maybe come in contact with some of his team mates and friends. Anyways enough for me, again many thanks!
I posted in the welcome in error, but my introduction for the most part is there. I will just highlight, I live in Johnston County, NC. I found myself here looking for a 7th group childhood friend that was diagnosed with ALS. I am hoping to connect with some of his team and friends here. If some of you here know him I will be glad to put a thread on him in the appropriate place. I will tell you all his time is very short. Thanks for allowing me here! |
Thank you for your service.
Hello Everyone.
For starters, Thanks to all you you who have or are serving now. You have my utmost respect and admiration. A brief introduction. I'm primarily a computer professional, emphasis on network and computer security. I've also held several positions in broadcast engineering. I'm also a volunteer with Army MARS here in Oregon, operating an HF to Internet gateway that runs 24/7/365. I was recruited as a volunteer fire fighter / medic just prior to 9/11 in rural Oregon and served as a volunteer for more than 12 years along with the day job. Along the way have met many men of high quality, many of which are retired military. Following 9/11, the nature of the ongoing fire training changed dramatically which really opened my eyes to risks and threats not considered before as presented by Janes in small flip books issued to us by the state police. As a lurker, I've been reading and absorbing a lot of information across all your fields of discussion for several months. The forums and collective wisdom here is simply amazing and I know I'll learn a lot. Unless I have anything constructive to contribute I'll remain mostly a lurker. I'll carefully consider each post prior to inserting my foot. I'm also am amateur blacksmith so I'm following some threads much more closely than others. Respectfully, Volunteer |

Hello,
My name is Ben and I am 24 years old, currently attending college full-time. Grew up in Philadelphia all my life and I am planning on enlisting after graduation as an 18X. Thank you all. |
Hello,
My name is Roger. I'm an AF vet from 2008-2012. I'm married to the girl I met 8 years ago in high school. We have two kids, a three year old girl and a month old boy. I love to read books, mostly fiction with a selection of non-fiction that captures my interest. I've been a civilian now for nearly two years, and I miss the military. Watching the news every day with the crap about ISIS just makes the blood boil. I'm ready to get back in the saddle after my PRK surgery next year. I appreciate the info and opinions found on this forum, and look forward to learning more from my future peers. Thank you |
Introduction
I joined Professional Soldiers a couple years ago with the goal of someday getting a chance to attend selection. Up to this point I've simply been a "lurker;" my personal life has been such that SFAS was not an option.
For a little bit of information about me, I'm 22, married and have a 5 month old baby. I've served in the MOARNG for the past 5 years as a 12T. Additionally, I've spent the last 15 months on ADOS orders working as a Military Funeral Honors team member. Recently, the program received some significant budget cuts, and I was told that as of 01OCT2014 my position was going to be cut. I had already been seriously considering requesting a conditional release to go active duty in about a year from now, however, in light of my job loss I decided to take advantage of a bad situation, and I'm now in the process of getting a conditional release from my Guard unit in order to enlist as an 18X. |

Welcome Gent's (and ladies)
Welcome one and all!
Those of you going to Special Forces training please read the Pipeline forums before asking the Special Forces soldiers questions. All those with a "Quiet Professional" as their title are vetted Special Forces soldiers (aka Green Berets). And most have 20 plus years of Special Forces experience. Team Sergeant |
Introduction
Hello everyone,
I am a senior studying Information Systems at a university in Boston and I recently joined the DEP under an 18x contract. I've already learned a lot from this website and plan to continue doing so. Have a great day. |
Hello, My Introduction
Hello,
First and foremost I'd like to thank all the QPs and others that serve (civil servants) for their service, bravery and selflessness. What we have we have because of you. I work in the automotive aftermarket, am single, 35 YO and live in OH. I have never served, my father was in the Navy and served back in the late 50s. As my profile states I'm here to learn, and will lurk and read, soaking up the information 99.9999% of the time. You may see a question from me but it will more likely come as a PM. Again thank you! |
Hello everyone,
I am a 32 year old living in AZ, I have had an itch to serve my country since I was about 7 and in a special operations since about 6th grade. The quite professional I have met in life have taught me a lot. I know if you mind is strong enough to tell your body to shut up and do something it will. I have little under 13 years prior service (Navy E6) discharged in 2012. Since then I have started a career with a great company that supports military service and have a lot of free time. so would like to peruse SF opportunities with the NG and possibly back to active duty. The NG recruiter tells me that the best route for me would be 11b since it a short school it would allow me to get to my goal faster. I do have a few questions and have done quite a bit of research. Thank you in advance for your time and any information or answers you may provide. |
Personal Introduction
For my intro I would like to start by thanking the creators of the Forum. There are many facets in which I see the Forum bennifiting Special Forces as a community.
I am blessed with the opportunity to work as an Intelligence Analyst for 1/10 SFG (A) based in Germany. The Army has been my life since I was a young boy. I've had many distractions and side-tracks. The one thing that has sustained is my love for service. I'm working towards a dream that I have sacrificed some. A dream that many have sacrificed all. While I am fortunate for my assignment, I'm looking for more. A path with weight. A path where the people and things I influence bennifit my children as well as theirs. Respectfully, ChosenSoldier21 |
Person Introduction
Greetings to All,
My name is Mike and I am a 26-year-old living in Denver. I finally was able to sign an 18x contract yesterday after 3+ years of unsuccessfully being able to join the military. I have been lurking on this forum for a long time and I am extremely grateful for all the invaluable information I have been able to find. My ship date is set for March so I will continue to train and research and look forward to joining the ranks and pursing my goals in the United States Army. Thanks |
I'm 23 years old and recently graduated with a BS in International Affairs and a Minor in Cyber Security. War has touched every side of my family, whether they were volunteering to fight for America in sandy, date-palm tree strewn areas of the world, or they were fleeing to America from those same areas, because Christians in the Middle East don't end up sitting very pretty if they have a run in with HAMAS or Al Qaeda.
I took the ASVAB and scored a 127 on my GT line. My AFQT was 98 percentile, and needless to say the recruiter basically told me that I could pick the contract I felt suited my skills most astutely, and the rest was up to my work ethic. As I implied earlier, I have some familial ties to the ME, so I actually grew up speaking Arabic, being lucky enough to visit Beirut and Amman in times of peace and prosperity, and attending a Lebanese/Syrian Christian church stateside. I also learned how to speak Spanish and am currently teaching myself Russian. I decided that because of my linguistic skills, my understanding of other cultures, my skills with an M9 since I was 16 and my relatively high IQ I would become a CI Special Agent. I quickly learned that was a pipe dream and a half. But then, I read an amazing book about these guys that rode into Afghanistan just a month after 9/11 on horseback, hooked up with some CIA paramil Officers and rallied together the Northern Alliance. In my heart, I have been a Green Beret since then. But I know that my brain alone will not get me there, and that the physical challenges are beyond taxing. Also, I think that running special operations in destinations around the globe sounds significantly more exciting and less soul-sucking than grueling away at a PhD in Strategic Intel or Forensic Psychology for 3 years immediately. |

I've been a member of this site for over four years now, and figured it was about time I'd introduce myself. I enlisted 18x, and am an 18D at Ft. Carson. I wanted to say that I found this site very helpful when I was starting the pipeline. Thank you gentlemen for your wisdom and your time.

Introduction
My name is Andrew and I'm a college senior studying media arts studies. I work part time as a campus security guard and teaching assistant, and do freelance broadcasting work when i can get it. I went through MEPS with an 18X last week, and I'll be shipping to basic next fall after I graduate in the summer.
I got linked here from another website a while ago while I was researching 18X and general SF info, and after looking around for a few weeks I decided it was time to introduce myself. Thank you all for bringing this community together; your dedication and personal experience bring a uniquely powerful perspective to the advice and information here. I'm looking forward to learning more as I move forward. |

Evening gentlemen. I was referred to here from another military forum (though nothing like this one) something like 3 years ago. I find your work here with posers and walts very interesting, and if you don't mind me saying I'm currently trying to implement something similar in my own countries SF poser crowd with this site as an influence. I try to stay in my lane here, just reading through the threads and not posting but I'm a daily lurker.
With respect Regards |
Introduction
I went into MEPS a year and a half ago hoping for 18x and wound up leaving with 35P. I went to basic, to DLI (for Spanish), graduated AIT, and am currently at Airborne. I'll be reporting to 7th Group next month. I have been lurking on here since before MEPS and have learned a ton from the threads. I'm looking forward to getting some good training and hopefully putting it to use somewhere.

Intro Post
Good Evening, Gentlemen
I'm here to learn so you won't see me posting much. I am a frequent poster at AR15.com. Occasionally, there might be a question that I could get answered by reading over here. My dad was career army (11B, drill sgt., NCO academy instructor) and my best friend did two tours in VN and time in the 11TH SFG as physician. I have a buddy who is now with Naval Special Warfare (He is a F18 driver and has been selected to serve with some of the HSLD guys at Va Beach). That all brings me to PS. I occasionally buy gifts for those guys and might ask advice. I've found it is hard to go wrong with knives, flashlights and packs. :D Thanks to everyone here who serves or has served our great country. Stephens |
Introduction
Hello, my name is Jacob Johnson. I Should've posted an introduction a long time ago, but I've just been researching and learning as much as possible from all of the fine people on this site.
A little about me, I am 23 years old. I am currently assigned to 4th ID, 2 ABCT. I joined active duty after serving 4 years in the Iowa National Guard. I deployed to Afghanistan with the Guard in 2010. I am a 13B (unfortunately) but was an 11B first. It has been a long time goal of mine to serve as a Special Forces operator. I will not quit until I achieve that goal. With that said I am slotted to attend SFAS at the end of October. Thank you all for the help in getting me ready for SFAS. All the information on this site has helped me out exponentially. |
I thought I had posted an introduction when I initially joined but found that I had not.
I have a BBA and currently work in the financial sector. I'll be enlisting as an 18x this month. I found this site several years ago searching for info about a career in SF. Thank you to all the gents that keep this site running smooth. It's been a great resource. |
