Go Devil 10-25-2012 14:49

I've been working on this for a few years...

Currently in possession.

Springfield M1A Standard Loaded. Walnut and composit stocks, modified 2 point sling mount, 8 20rnd mags, bandoliers w/ stripper clips. (My main weapon)

Remington 870P Max, Tritium front sight, saddle, single point sling. (My secondary)

Rock River Arms Operator2 in 5.56, iron sights. 8 magpul magazines, single point sling. (Wife Main)

Mossberg 142-A .22 S&LR with factory 4 power scope and factory peep sight. Fold down monopod. 1947 bolt action mag fed. Only 1 mag, hard to find. (Daughter Main)

North American Arms Corp. .22 mag 5-shot revolver, stainless, 4" overall length. (Daughter Secondary)

Beretta Model 21A, .22LR, 2 mags. (Wife Secondary)

I would swap the Beretta .22 handgun for a 9 mil sub gun of the open bolt variety (Sten MK3); yes, it has issues, but it is bone head simple. (Daughter Alternate Main)

1. Savage model 24 223 over 12ga single shot over under. heavy but its proven to be pretty handy as a ranch rifle when prey is anything from squirrel to coyote to quail
2. Remington 700 20" 308 Its simple, fairly light and compact, and easy to find aftermarket stuff for.
3. Benelli M4 super 90 wish list item
4. DSA FAL 18" with the folding stock after I leave CA
5. Hk USP because every time I go to sell it I cant bring myself to part with it.
6. Glock 19 because I know in a pinch, my wife could shoot it.

I would go with what I use for fun

Ruger Vaquero .45 C

Ruger Vaquero .45 C

Lever Action .45 C

S/S coach gun in 12g

Win 70 .338 Win Mag, Burris Full field scope 50 MM objective.

1818 Springfield, w/Belgium conversion.

I would lie about the other ones and hide them. :)

There seems to be a fair amount of consensus here.

Very interesting, as well as helpful.

What is your Immediate action drill for a misfire???? :munchin :D

mojaveman 10-29-2012 10:51

1. Carbine: An AR in 5.56. What else? I do like the A1 replica that I recently built and I also like my Bulgarian AK-74.

2. Battle rifle: The Belgian made FN-FAL that I bought from Jim's Pawn Shop for $1,500.00 back in '85. How about an M-1 Garand? They may be archaic but you can find .30-'06 anywhere. I'll also mention the G-3 mostly because I like German guns. :p

3. Hunting/long range: Remington 700 in .308 topped with a Leupold Mark 4 M1 10X

4. Pistol: Sig P220 in .45ACP

5. Rimfire pistol: Ruger Mark I. Found one at a gunshow made in '79 and new in the box for a decent price.

6. Shotgun: Remington 870 in black synthetic with 18" and 26" barrels.

IMO, that would be the best battle rifle ever made if it were mag fed.
