Scroll down the page and you will see a Video converter that will take mpeg2 and convert it to windows media. I have used their stuff and it is ok. It should let you download the trial version for free. |
I haven't used this personally, but I've heard that this is a good and competent program for video editing:

RL, you can open it with After Effects and then do a save as to a AVI file. Then use the Windows movie maker. windows movie maker is quick and dirty and will let you save it to an even more compressed format like wmf and chop it up into reasonable lengths.

That's just the app rendering the image. You need a lot of ram and a pretty hefty processor if you're rendering a 25 meg mpeg2 to avi. Try starting the conversion before you go to bed and let it run all night.
