TR - Hyponatremia in conjunction with hypokalemia can/will cause hydrostasis due to the shut down of the Na/K pump in the Isles of Langerhans - without the cellular diffusion created by the Na / K differences in the Nephrons - normal elimination is retarded (the kidneys can't force fluid/waste through the diffusion walls cleanse and then rediffuse the cleaned fluids back into the bloodstream) and a static situation exists - you'll still sweat - but if you stop peeing it's time for an electrolyte push (if you need to go IV, NS + K works, quick bolus 1/2 l, then normal drip to get 1 l / hr). Damn- (then CPT) COL Rocky (Farr) forced that into our heads at Ft Sam for the long run. And Col Farr - if you're lurking - I'm still mad about the "Licorice problem".

Not sure if this is proper place to post this, but an update on my son. Passed selection last week, found out today will be 18D and Spanish. Both his first choices. Just wanted to share the good news.

Thanks for allowing parents in, it helps to give us an idea of what our sons are facing, and I believe offer at least a little better advice.
