Hello, my name is Kent. I've come to learn and hopefully apply what i've learned here, and go to selection. I'm a mechanic in the 82nd , 25 yrs. old, and a pretty hard charger. I like the life style of SF and CAG operators, the gear, the treatment, and the brotherhood. Thanks and GOD Bless.

My name is Jeff. I have recently sworn in and am awaiting a delayed entry on 18x in the US Army Active.
Due to this, I will not release a lot of information publicly, although will provide information if asked privately by a Quiet Professional. I don't plan on posting much, however, I do plan on reading everything and anything I come across. Thank you for all the help and service every member has given. |
Hey everyone, been lurking here reading through threads for a few months now, figured it was time to make an account. I'm currently active duty USAF Security Forces, serving missile security and as part of the TRF/EST team. Im looking to finish up my time and switch into the Army as SF, most likely in the guard. Currently have 3 years TIS and 3 remaining, in the mean time I'm just training my ass off and trying to learn as much as possible about the selection process, SF operations etc. Much respect to everything you guys do... Hopefully I'll be working along side you soon.

Gentlemen,
First let me apologize for just now getting my intro post, posted. I have been on the site since Feb 2010, though I have not posted till recently. I have gained some great info from many of the threads and posts. Any question I've searched for have been answered, without having to ask. Thank you. You have helped me a great deal. I am currently a DoD Contractor and have been deploying wherever the job has taken me for the last four + years. As a Pilot, I have been lucky and humbled to have worked for/with some great people. Having never served in our Armed Forces, I have to admit I was more than a little nervous taking the job. I had no idea what to expect. I have to say that the experience has been nothing but positive and I have made friendships like no others. When at home I enjoy old cars of all types, mainly good Ol American Muscle. I also enjoy aviation history and have been fortunate enough to fly some classic WWII airplanes, shooting and spending time with the Wife. Hope I don't come off as sounding to goofy or anything. Thanks again for allowing me to be a member of this community. |
Hello, I'm Anton, and I'm currently working on completing my associate's degree in college. It is my intention to enlist as an active duty soldier later next year, or in early 2015. I've been lurking as a guest here since early 2011.
My main purpose on this forum is to develop a career path in the U.S. Army before I enlist, with SF as my end goal. I will mostly be reading and absorbing as much as I can from the Quiet Professionals here before enlisting, aside from the occasional question or two. Thank you for providing access to this fantastic community for hopefuls like me. - Golgo 47 |
Making it Happen
Hey all, honored to be here. I finished my undergraduate degree over the summer and am enlisting later this year; hopeful 18X edit: don't qualify because of medical waiver and exploring other options. I'm excited and grateful for the wealth of information and inspiration held here.

From all the researching and reading I have done on SF, it amazes me how diverse the SF crowd is. Working professionals, students with college degrees, prior service military guys, etc. I am extremely encouraged by the stories of a lot of the SF soldiers out there, and I can't wait to get in the mix! |
Greetings everyone,
Currently an Infantry LT/PL in the CA NG. Very disappointed with the way my military career has turned out so far. The NG life has been nothing but a downer to me ever since I commissioned and I am now in the process of trying to get to a better place. Special Forces has been a goal of mine ever since I began talking to the recruiter in college. For the past year or so, I have been preparing to take the SFRE (have to wait untill I am promotable) but I have recently come to the conclusion that I would much rather resign my commission and go 18x. I have talked to the recruiter, and he said he could make it happen on his end if I can get the paper work from my CoC. Now just going back and forth in my head with my options. Came to this site to help the decision making process. 27 y/o, very healthy, and very motivated. I look forward to seeing what everyone has to say. -Johnny |
Following Simple Instructions
I'm a civilian. Enlisting soon. Came across the site through sheer happenstance. Grateful to all of you who allow us regular joe blows to benefit from your expertise on these various and sundry subjects to which I, at least, have great interest and less experience than I'd like. Wouldn't have made a profile at all, except I wanted to express my thanks for the advice and the invitation to your house. Aside from this obligatory post of gratitude and welcome in accordance with standing orders, I'll likely not be speaking unless spoken to.
Thanks again. |
Hello everyone. I am a 20 year old "kid" in college pursuing degrees in Nursing and Intelligence Studies. I've been lurking around the site for years, but as I have started to close in on the final two years of college and the biggest decisions of my life; it seems like a wise idea to join (that and search function can only be used by members.).
Honestly I intend to acquire an 18x contract and hopefully become an 18D, but will first have to acquire a medical waiver because of a very complicated childhood (benign brain tumor, reconstructed feet, and (had) severe asthma among other things) . However that being said I have decided to dedicate myself to this 100%, I approach my training and prep as do or die with no other alternatives (I am aiming far above standards ). Becoming SF has always been a dream and goal of mine (yes I know I romanticize it a fair bit). I understand the general mission sets of SF and have had conversations both attempting to persuade and dissuade me from pursing anything to do with the army; however I am determined to become SF no matter what. Big post but I probably will not post much again, if at all, because I do have access to people I can ask most questions (can use the search button now) and I do not like to chime in on matters in which I am not an expert or experienced. Thank you for all the information provided on this site! |

Hi, I'm 28 with work experience in veterinary medicine, emergency medicine and law enforcement. I've been browsing this site for a while, reading in preparation for an 18x contract. I've been drawn to SF for a while now, and I feel that now is the time to follow my dream to be a part of a group of such extraordinary individuals.
Thanks to the admin who recommended I clear my browser history so I can post. |

Radio Check
Hi to ALCON. I'm a newby guest, retired US Navy (Surface Warfare). I noticed that a few of the 18E guys were referencing some of the AN/GRC-109 / RS-1 radio set information that I had posted elsewhere. The resulting thread was interesting.
I'm here to learn and maybe answer some questions about vintage portable field commo equipment if I can. OPSEC always.... Thanks, Tim AR |

Any tips about SOTA will be appreciate. as far as I know, get 280 on PT, volunteer to go Airborne. then the new course for SOTA, and as 3/3 DLPT native speaker I should be in good shape. There is any age limit for SOTA? Thanks y'all. |
Introduction
I am currently an artillery PL/XO in the ARNG. I'm also a civilian police officer. I'm 27 years old and still hounding my chain of command for a chance at ranger school. I've all but given up hope of going to ranger school as an artillery officer in the guard (one of my largest military goals not yet achieved), so I've been looking at other options (one of which is possibly resigning my commission). Since looking into the special forces option, I've become obsessed with it. I've read books, articles, forums, etc. I'm taking the next step now, and hopefully I can gain some insight and wisdom from the many quiet professionals here. I look forward to chatting with everyone who is willing to offer some advice! Thanks!

Glad To Be Here
Retired 18Z. Served 23 years with 18 in the Regiment. After retirement worked 8 years as a DoS WPS contractor/instructor. Now semi-retired, give private hand gun instruction in my AO, and do a little consulting on occasion.
Quite a few guys I've worked with over the years on here, so I figured it was about time to become a member. Glad to be here and thanks for the admission. VonHawk |

New member Umiami2014
Hello all, I'm looking into signing a 18X contract along with a fellow battle buddy of mine I was deployed with in 2009. I graduate Fall 2014 from the University of Miami, however, I want to stay on the enlisted side first and hopefully get picked for 18D. If Army needs dictate otherwise, so be it. Thanks for the plethora of information on the forums!

Hello,
I am a 24 year old who does not currently service in any military branch but joined this forum to gain more knowledge of SOF. I have grown up in a farming community in the Midwest my hole life and played college football. Unsure of what to do after college I have a good job working at a heavy equipment manufacturer. But it has been on my mind to enlist and be apart of something bigger than myself much like I found in athletics . Thank you for all who contribute to this site and to all who serve in for the United States of America! |
Retired CSM
I've been retired since 98, with 28 yrs svc. Ret as 00Z5P and called Bragg home for at least half my career. Most of the time I was 91B/54B, but as most know you roll a whole bunch of other stuff, letters and numbers into the pot. Spent time in Tolz, Vicenza and places further south and East. I guess I just want to keep somewhat in the net. Now I live in the Redoubt in a 12x16 cabin and command chickens, goats and dogs. (absolutely no sheep need apply. I instructed at 300F1 but never wore the green, always maroon. That being said I just could'nt seem to keep away from you guys. Everytime you started something I got pulled in.:D Anyway this feels like home. I came across this site while looking for an old friend named Pat Brogan, sadly I was a little late. Thanks for the gathering. Some may know me by my old call sign, Rockydoc.
