Intro for Mike
First of all I'd like to state that this site, is an insurmountable asset to any one like myself, considering the path to SF.
About me: I am an infantry TL in the National Guard Airborne Infantry unit in TX. Also I am a full time student pursuing my B.S. in Geography, with a minor in Business Administration; and a bar tender. When I initially enlisted in the ARMY I knew nothing about it. I enlisted in the Reserves as a 25U; in all honesty my decision was based mostly on educational finance. Once I made it to my unit I immediately knew I absolutely needed to do more as a soldier. Thus, my transfer to Able company and MOST to 11B. Since then, I have learned a great deal about myself and what it means to be a soldier. Yet even in an Airborne Infantry unit my hunger to do more exists. Do not mistake my meaning here: the 143rd is an outstanding unit, whose leadership is second to none in the NG( and even many in Active Duty); furthermore, I am forever great-full for the experiences and insight I have gained from my time in Able company--especially, on our deployment to Afghanistan in 2011. However, the time has come for me to pursue a higher purpose. That purpose is that of SF: not for the prestige or notification. For the sake of doing more. Some guys believe the Soldiers creed is cliche, but it spoke to me and still does. The SF creed speaks to me on an even higher level. The SF mission is one that I believe in to the core. The success of this nation depends on SF. With out focus on: Unconventional Warfare, Counter Terrorism, Foreign Internal Defense, Special Reconnaissance, and secrecy we will fail in the Wars of today and tomorrow. I want to be a part of that, I want to see it to fruition. On another note I am soon to be the father of a son. Wyatt( my sons name) adds fuel to the fire that is the path to SF for me. I am currently training myself to the bone while juggling: a pregnant girl-friend, School, Work, and my commitment to Able Co as TL/ acting SL. As far as I'm concerned all this just adds to the training value, because in my mind I have already made the commitment, and nothing short of life limb or eyesight can deter my persistence. But talk is cheap, I just hope I get the chance to do it all. Willing is not enough, we must do, (Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, and Bruce Lee) VR Mike |

Hello,
18E from 1-10. Joined the regiment in 2006. Here to chat with fellow QPs. I like that others can visit this forum and ask questions about joining or about the career path. It is not for everyone but the rewards are worth it. By rewards I mean self improvement and satisfaction with ones life. Happy to be here, Ian |
Introduction
Hello,
Been lurking around for a few months trying to learn as much as I can. I've been training for almost a year for a chance to be interviewed, although I still have a long way to go. I have no prior military service but both of my parents do. Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedules to share your experiences and knowledge. |
COMMO!
I am a communications operator currently at Fort Bragg and working in USASOC. I deploy in support of SOF and am usually embedded with an SF team. I joined mostly to discuss radio procedures and tactical field comms with 18Es that have created their own field expedient equipment and ways of conducting clandestine communications. I would also like to share my real world knowledge of HF and other communications with those seeking different ways of "making it work".

Greetings and Felicitations
I have always been interested in 18X (X= B, C, D and E) tactics, techniques and equipment.
I have been studying USSF for over 40 years. I look forward to learning and sharing on this great site. This site kept popping up during recent Internet searches and so I decided to check it out. I was pleasantly surprised and decided to join. "Jim" |
I was in 1st Group and a SWC instructor in Yuma for a total 18 year.

intro version 2
I posted an intro on here before and either I did it incorrectly or it got lost to the internet. With that, I felt it would be best to just reintroduce myself.
I've been in 1st Group since 2007 (3rd Bn) and have deployed to OIF, OEF-P and OEF-A, as an 18C which is still my MOS. Thanks and appologies for anything done incorrectly up to this point. |

Hi, I'm 22 years old, PA National Guard, 11b re-classing as a 35m. I've wanted to be a Special Forces soldier for a long, long time. I'm here to learn about SF in general but especially about getting into SF in the Guard. Still trying to update my profile but when I enter the info and try to save it, it won't stick. Thanks.

Hello everyone, I'm currently a finance/film major. As of yet no plans to join the army but I exercise a lot and stay focused to keep my options open. I am planning on getting my concealed soon supplemented with some tactics and land nav courses from a retired green beret. I want to write some military scripts and I've always found the special forces really interesting and impressive. I love intelligence too so I'm looking to learn in case I have a change of heart or just want to use the knowledge for a script.

Hey all,
Sorry for posting this a little late but I'm a recent college graduate in the process of trying to get a rep 63 contract and enlisting. Hoping to read and learn from the people on this site as I get ready for this endeavor |

Greetings to all in the SF community it is truly a privilege to be in this circle of past and present "QP's". You continue to maintain a history of excellence by recruiting, producing and mentoring a unique breed of SF Soldier(s) for the future. Thank you for accepting my membership. Currently deployed my AOC QM/LOG, slotted as DET CDR, our special mission continues to teach me tremendously about unconventional warfare, the decisions made are not from lessons taught in a school house, Journal, or AR-FM. Its either you have the natural ability to defuse or neutralize potentially tense conflict situation, or you don't. While some skill-set takes time to develop for some I truly understand, when "QP" member said "Its a total package the community is looking for." I look forward to many healthy discussions and mentorship from "QP" IOT enhance my profession not as a leader, but a servant to those I'm leading, for they (Soldier) determine if i'm a leader.

Ex-Yut Yut
Hey everyone,
Prior service Hospital Corpsman with 5 1/2 years in and two deployments to Iraq. Been out for five years, stayed busy, but never lost the "service bug." This finds me currently in the process of joining the MDNG. 20th SFG hopeful. Attending the next prior service SF briefing on the 6th in Glen Arm. Probably gonna get pretty good to go information from that brief, but any guidance from the BTDT's on this forum would be tremendously appreciated. Look forward to talking with you all. |
introduction
First, thank you to the creators of this site. I've found it to be very informative and inspiring. Soldiers, past and present, thank you for your service and sacrifices.
I am a 23 year old 13 F PFC currently stationed with 2-82 FA, 1st Cav at Ft. Hood. I am currently working on preparing for SFAS but cannot begin SFQC until September 2014 because I just PCS'd here last month. I spent 12 years living in Fayetteville, NC and have had the pleasure of meeting and spending time with many fine 3rd group men who have inspired me to want to be a part of this elite group. I'm not there yet, but give me a minute or two. |
Good afternoon,
I am currently a college senior. I was an Army ROTC cadet for a few years, but am no longer in the program. Currently, I plan on seeing a recruiter around December, and ideally getting an 18x contract for after graduating college. I am quite determined to get one. Until then, I've been/will continue doing PT and reading, especially on this site. I've learned a lot already, and I am genuinely grateful for the unique opportunity of attempting this path in a time when a resource like this can thrive, technologically speaking. Thank you. |
Introduction
I posted here several years ago and then again recently but did not post an introduction.
A while after I returned from RVN, where I was with the 1/7th Cavalry of the First Cavalry Division, I went to SFQC in the summer of 1973 (class 1-74). Since then I have had deployments several times to Central America, including Operation Just Cause (1989), to Korea and a number of CONUS sites. I spent 19 years in SF and retired in 1992 as SGM of Co B, 3d Bn, 12th SFG(A). |
sfsgm,
Welcome aboard. |
Glad to have you aboard, sfsgm.

Hello all. I am 22, active Army. I'm a vehicle mechanic currently deployed. I've been drawn to Special Forces for a while and I am hoping to attend selection shortly after my unit's return.

Welcome SGM,
Garry Owen.. 2/7th 1970.. |
Hello, I am a 28 year old college graduate and after too many years of awful unfulfilling work in the private sector, I have made the executive decision to follow in my uncle's footsteps and do all I can to earn the honor of wearing the green beret by signing an 18X contract. I have long term goals, but i am keeping my eyes on the 25m target with selection in the 10 ring.
I have read Get Selected!, SF/Ranger workout by Stew Smith, hired a personal trainer with much USMC infantry (Army, much less SF, is hard to find in San Diego) experience for general weight training, and PT twice a day, 5-6 days/week. |
Hello, I am a 23 year old student and plan on signing an 18x this coming spring. This past year I got married and moved from AZ to NC to be closer to my wife's family. I love this country and I can't wait to serve it. I am so happy I found this site and will be glued to it until I leave for basic! Thank you to all the QPs that post on these forums!
|
I'm an active duty combat engineer. I have four years of service and one deployment. I grew up around QPs and earning that title has been my life goal since I can remember. I'm slotted to attend SFAS in the near future, and I've been PTing and rucking my butt off to prepare.
