In Pockets of everyday pants or on belt… (Adjusted some for time of year and environment i.e. school and government buildings)

· Change
· ChapStick
· Zippo
· 1-2 black pens (uni-ball Vision micro)
· Benchmade 5000SBK auto with woven 550 cord layered that comes apart to give me 2x 3’ lengths of cord.
· Benchmade AFCK Axis lock
· CCW/Business Card Holder, front pocket not near wallet or weapon easy to get to slowly.
· Bugout/leftover from range day rounds of 9mm ball
· Sharpie
· Red and Blue pens of same brand and size as the black pen above
· Cell phone
· Wallet
· Surefire E2E old style, and well worn
· Leatherman wave
· MK-8 (I think, label wears off fast and I am not sure on make and model, it is the one with the pocket clip)
· Wenger watch
· Bracelet made out of 10.75’ of 550 OD cord… So many people think it is a hippy armband… I love how people underestimate “hippies”
· Glock 17, 17 + 1 rounds in it
· 2 17 round mags

In vest if I can get away with wearing it in environment, or if I am working EP.

· Civi E&E Kit in zip-lock freezer bag with…
o Sewing Kit
o Gum
o Nail Clippers
o Eyeglass Repair Kit
o ChapStick (unopened)
o Breath Mints
o Eye Drops
o Kleenex personal pack
o Supper Glue (6 mini)
o S!@t load of Bandaids
o 90 Second epoxy
o Pepto-Bismol
o Tylenol
o Motrin
o Excedrin
o Pepcid Complete
o Aleve
o Claritin
· Binoculars
· Streamlight Stylus
· Rite In The Rain Pen and Notebook
· Ear plugs depending if I have used them or given them away 2-4 pair
· 2 17 round Glock 17 mags
· Surefire 9p with 200 lumen lamp
· More leftover/bugout rounds

Some of this may seem like over kill but my Boy Scout training has paid off in the form of $100 tips just for having what a client needs when they need it.

I think that’s about it but I just have it with me everyday so I don’t really think about it much until summer then I have to work to hide it a bit more…add to this what I have in my car and desk at work and you get the idea…

JPH out.

In reviewing a lot of these posts I see no mention by a lot of QPs of their coin. I always carry a numbered Regimental Coin and a RICA Ranger coin at all times. Sounds like a lot of people could be buying the next round! :munchin

Or they are working that same angle from the opposite direction, winding someone else up to check 'em at next opportunity, so they can grab a round for free ;) ..

Hmmm... could be! Speaking of coins, I picked one up today at A Co., 1st BN 19th SPG(A). The front of the coin has there standard stuff; however, the back has an outline of Afganistan with a color Afgan flag among other things as well as the words "Ground Hog Day." It's sort of an inside joke, as they said every day was Ground Hog day there. I'll post some pics of it when I get a chance. It is a nice looking coin. :munchin

Phantom 01-23-2006 00:01

Nice coin, one of my goals is to eventually add an A Co, 1/19th coin to my small collection.

With our new travel trailer, we have increased our key population by, at the moment, 4. They are coupler/receiver/coupler-latch locks, trailer door, storage lockers, and cable lock for accessories like the generator.

I've added a hook, rake, and tension tool to my Leatherman sheath.

How about reading the rules stickied at the top of the forums?

You might want to go back and do that before posting again.

Distorted 07-12-2008 01:25

I changed my EDC after reading the 'Be Prepared' thread.

My state sucks, and my campus is worse--tasers, airsoft guns, and even non-kitchen knives are explicitly banned. So a ballpoint pen is the closest I'm getting to a weapon. This kit has made it through several airport security checkpoints as-is for what it's worth.

550 cord in sturdy shoes (went out and bought some just so I could do this)
Ballpoint pen
three safety pins stuck through my waistband
swim goggles
bic lighter
Poncho(summer/spring)/Space Blanket (Fall/Winter)
Waterproof pouch (AquaPac AQP-644) in pants pocket Contents:
-pure water straw
-Keys, including Tool
-wallet with normal stuff (IDs, cash, condoms, band-aid etc) and a credit card tool.
-Roll of electrical tape
-Micro USB drive
-cellphone
-small tube of motrin (six tablets, left over from a prescription) + cotton ball
-ziplock bag with N95 mask + medical gloves

Rationale:
The swim goggles are for swimming, and possibly to pair with the N95 mask. I'm not sure how useful they actually are, but they take up almost nothing space-wise. Most locks can be opened with the safety pin (pick) and tool (tension).

Questions:
I'm not too worried about some whackjob deciding to stage a mass-casualty event in a lecture hall, though it has been known to happen; however, the possibility mixed with the general possibility of violent crime did lead me to think about buying a wound kit, though I decided against it because I lack medical training. What small items and action by an amateur could save lives in such an event?

Ideally, the tube would contain several single doses of assorted (legal) drugs for dealing with common problems. I couldn't come up with anything better than ibuprophen, and would like some advice from the medical folks.

My biggest overall worry would be an angry dog--I'm not confident in my ability to take one down with a ballpoint pen, so it would be a very serious problem. Any suggestions?

I know this is an old thread, but:::::

GratefulCitizen 01-24-2009 19:28

This thread had serious influence on my thinking.

Every day carry:

- Clip knife, one-hand opener w/half-serrated 3-inch blade
- Money clip w/card holder ($20-100, ID, CCW, 2 credit cards, ATM card, DOT card, library card, gun club card, grocery store discount card)
- BUG (except at work, it's against company policy  )
- Cell phone
- Mini-flashlight (high-intensity, narrow-beam)
- Car keys
When traveling out of town (and not on the job)
- Colt Delta w/ 1 or 2 extra mags, depending on carry mode

Always have a small fanny-pack in the car nearby, or on me if away from the car for significant time/distance.
Various contents are sometimes on my person depending on circumstances.

Contents:
- Swiss army knife on a key 'biner (huntsman)
- Wide beam, low-intensity, high-endurance mini-flashlight
- Spare batteries for narrow-beam flashlight
- Lighter
- 3 square ft. t-shirt cotton
- 5 ft duct tape
- 16 GB Flash drive
- Key 'biner w/ various sets of keys
- Chewing gum
- Small notebook
- Pen

Thanks for the thread and ideas.
EDC will likely be an evolving process.

I am up in the DC area and always carry a charter arms .44 special. It is hammerless for the pocket and is a real nice emercency piece for the money. I must add that I am legal to carry this and will advise that to get rolled up and not be legal could sure cause some legal problems.

Girlfriends want to know if you are gay since you carry more crap than she does.

She also wants to know where the "Rosary" is, or can she borrow your bag sometime? Perhaps you two can sit beside each on your next flight in the event she needs an alcohol swab.

Sure. As long as she
(a) stipulates that the POK LBC is a satchel, not a murse, and
(b) agrees not to ask to borrow any of my Aimee Mann CDs or my copy of The Good Wife, season 1.

perdurabo 01-09-2011 00:07

- iPhone 4
- Either the Springfield XD-45 or the Ruger LCP, depending on clothing and my mood.
- Leatherman Wave with the $5 pocket clip from the factory, can't stand belt carriers. If you order one, order 3. They're very durable but I broke one, and friends and family have begged me for my spares.
- Torch-style pocket lighter (for firestarting, don't smoke)
- Keychain with keys, a few bump keys, a keychain pen, and a mini SAK, and a superbright LED light
- 8-10 plain index cards (for jotting down ideas & to do's on the go, typing into a tiny iPhone 4 sucks)
- Jeans + Dockers leather belt. Used to wear 5.11 and such but got looks from LEOs and criminals, so stopped.
- Shirt + fleece or TNF wind/rain jacket

Everything goes in pockets, so I blend in and don't look like batman. Each item goes in the same pocket every day.

If I have my backpack with me, which I often do:

- A few lightweight books (survival guide + something to kill boredom
- Garmin 60csx (or whatever it is, that awesome one)
- An extra ammomag or few
- An iPad.
- A Macbook Pro & assorted cables
- The Leatherman Wave bit driver set
- A couple USB memory keys, one with crypto and security tools
- A few cheapo carabiners, and one good climbing one
- 25' of 550 cord
- Basic civilian medical supplies (ointment, ibuprof, acetaminophen, immodium, benadryl, sudafed, dramamine, bandages, etc). I use this quite often to medicate coworkers and family in a pinch. All of this fits into an old little plastic USAF first aid box about the size of a single serve cereal box.
- An Altoids tin survival kit (fishing junk, fishing line, vaseline soaked cotton, compass, whistle, exactos, water tabs, etc etc)
- water container (metal bottle you buy at the store)
- Long-lasting trail bars
- Mylar emergency blanket
- A Marmot Ion windshirt (a model from before they got bad) jammed up into a tiny ball
- steno pad + pens and pencils (for jotting down ideas or "whiteboarding" for others)

I'll probably catch crap for the big lists, but I manage to stay well within Sheeple territory.

When out on the town
My department issued sidearm Smith & Wesson M&P .45
2 spare Pistol Mags
Handcuffs
Surefire Backup Light
SOG Multitool
CRKT M16-14LE Knife
Work ID/Credentials and personal wallet with random cards ID inside

I have a London Bridge Trading LBT-1652A Backpack that I keep in the trunk as sort of a bug-out-bag. Inside it I have:
Camelbak 100 OZ Resorvoir full of filtered water (changed/cleaned every couple weeks) Water purification tablets
Medical Kit containing basic med supplies plus quickclot gauze, chest seal, cpr mask, burn gel, SOF Tourniquet and some other random stuff.
2 MRE's
Box of Cliff Bars
Nalgene bottle with LED equipped cap
Surefire 6P Defender and 12 Extra Batteries
Surefire Helmet Light mounted on an EOTAC Operators hat
Black Diamond Headlamp
8 Chem lights (2-red, 2-green, 2-blue, 2-IR)
Extra battery for my police radio
Frog Toggs Rain gear
TAD Gear Ranger Hoodie
6 packs of Hand Warmers
3 pair of socks in a waterproof bag
1 Pair of Nomex Flight Gloves
Fleece watch cap
Sig P229 with 2 extra mags
8 Magpul PMAGS loaded with duty .223 Ammo
Garmin GPS
Solar charger with multiple adapters
Pistol and rifle cleaning kit, Extra bolt assembly for my issued M-4

There's probably more stuff in there but this is what I can think of at the moment. I transfer the bug out bag from my POV to my patrol car when I'm working. It's my "active shooter" bag when on-duty. When working I sign out a PVS 14 and keep that in my bag as well.

Have you tried the Marcona almonds?

If not, I respectfully recommend buying at least two cans.;)
