Croaker,
Appreciate the help getting the word out there...

I've been told by one of my Mentors that "Writing a book is only 10% of the work. 90% is letting people know about it."

P.S. Spoke with the Warrior Foundation on Friday.
We've already raised $2,300 towards the initial goal of raising $20,000 towards funding a scholarship. Books are really starting to sell quickly now and we're over 10% of the way there...

Got the book Monday. Turnaround time was 6 business days.

I started reading it today. I'm through Chapter One and am getting very excited about it.

Couple of inspiring points for me had to do with running and trying.

In Ch. 1 it mentions that (essentially) rucking is more important than running a 6 minute mile. That's very encouraging to me as running is not my strongpoint. I know I'll need to do it well, but I've been stressing over times a bit lately.

Also, I've always been a stickler about making accurate statements. Try has been part of my vocabulary mostly because I don't like to say I'll do something if there's a chance of failure.

Of course I can here Yoda in the background saying "Do or do not; there is no try." ;)

I like "do my best" much better.

I found the three phase (Green, Amber, Red) peacetime mission very interesting as well.

That's it so far. Will post back with more as I get through it.

Regards,
Aric

Excellent book!

I got the book over the weekend, sat down, and finished it in one sitting. It was a quick, easy read, full of facts and information - but one worth going through multiple times. The best single source of information that I've seen concerning preparation for SFAS.

Things I especially liked: the 7 key factors why people fail and how to prepare for them, the 30 day plan that includes homework and mental prep, and the recommended reading list for further resources and why you should read them.

To anyone considering pursuing Special Forces I would highly recommend this book.

Thank you for publishing this book, Sir.

Derek

Picked up this gem today at the Ft. Myer CSS and plan on absorbing as much as possible.

My professional plans are different than what this book was intended for but it should help me in my endeavor for my next job.

MAJ M and MSG D, thanks for putting in the time and effort on this book. I think it has a lot to offer for the non-SF career track especially those that are lucky enough to be on a B-Team. Never hurts to be able to keep up!

Roguish Lawyer, thank you for beginning this post, I probably wouldn't otherwise have found Warrior-Mentor's book;

Warrior-Mentor, thank you for writing and publishing this book. I will order a copy this week.

Kindest regards,
x95lee

Glad to be able to help. I was lucky to have an SF SGM and MSG mentor me while I was in college and later and SF LTC while I was a LT at Ft Bliss.
Just passing on the wisdom...

Best of luck,

P.S. I'll be at the Fort Lewis Clothing Sales Store for a book signing on July 15th from 1100 to 1300 hours.
If you're in the Seattle/Ft Lewis area, please stop in.

P.P.S. Couple people have written asking about the Special Reports mentioned in the book. I'm working on getting them out as quickly as possible. They'll be available via e-mail before I can get them posted on the web site (I'm not a "propeller head", as Tom Antion says). If you'd like to be among the first to get them, drop me a note at deoppresso@aol.com and I'll add you to the list to e-mail them out to when complete.

Thanks for being patient. :munchin (after all, the Reports are FREE).

For those of you who didn't get my e-mail update on the FREE Special Reports offered as bonuses in GET SELECTED FOR SPECIAL FORCES, I'm working on the first one right now RUNNING: A CrASH Course for Beginners.

I am partnering with a World Champion UltraEndurance Athlete for this report. Stu Mittleman set the world record when he ran 1,000 miles in 11 days. Then he ran from San Diego to New York City in 56 days averaging 2 marathons a day.

Do you think he knows a thing or two about running and taking care of your body?

IF YOU'RE GOING TO LEARN, LEARN FROM THE BEST.

Anyway, here's the feedback I got from Stu after sending him the rough draft...

Best,
JM

P.S. If you'd like to get FREE updates and tips, please send me a note at deoppresso@aol.com.

I’ve already gone through your material and my initial reaction is WOW!

Give me a day or so and I will get back to you hoping to match your thoroughness and clarity…

I must admit the scope and potential of what you initiated here is much greater than I expected – not that I didn’t see it coming (for I am familiar with the your book “Get Selected” – just that I was anticipating a small pamphlet or hand-out.) Bottom line, this could be huge!

Are you interested in going to a publisher with this? On my end, I can definitely envision a partnership on this project and a very successful outcome.

GREAT JOB!

Looking forward to speaking with you soon!

Until then, I remain…

Yours for the distance,

Stu Mittleman

Preparing for SFAS

Sir, I am a 1LT (P) who was selected by the board to attend SFAS this November - December. I'm currently a mortar PL in the 82nd and will be going to get your book immediately. I'll keep you posted on my preparation and be able to provide you with some feedback once I have gone through Selection. Take care and I'm looking forward to reading your book.

Fill in your profile, introduce yourself on the Intro thread, and hit the sand trails on post with a ruck on your back.

Congrats and good luck!

Great. Looking forward to hearing how things work out for you.

If Bragg is sold out, please let CUSTOMER SERVICE know THEY'RE OUT AGAIN and put in a request.
Bragg Clothing sales hasn't figured it out yet (that GET SELECTED is going to sell as quickly as they put them out there).

...and follow the Reaper's guidance.

I picked the book up last week. Great read, some very insightful pieces of advice. The footcare chapters alone are worth the money. This book is applicable to getting ready for Ranger school as well. I'd recommend it to any current or future Infantry LTs.

BTW, its also sold out at Benning Clothing and Sales. I purchased the last copy and haven't seen it restocked since.

airbornefox 07-25-2005 11:00

Warrior Mentor.... you hit the nail on the head. As soon as I got up and drove down they didn't have it. Then I went to the ABN PX and Regular PX and nothing. I'll let them know to get more! Thanks for your help. Now on my way to updating profile and intro thread. Thanks...

airbornefox 07-30-2005 21:09

Warrior-Mentor 08-02-2005 23:36
