I am an 18D, have been in 3rd SFG for a few years now. Made a few deployments. Just recently joined the site, and I look forward to helping out when I can, and learning what I can.

I would first like to give thanks to the Quite Professionals for maintaining this site and sharing their knowledge with those of us who are not only interested the Special Forces way of life, but also committed to earning the privilege of becoming part of the community.
I am a twenty two year old Private First Class in the United States Army with an 18X contract, currently waiting to be shipped out to Fort Benning, Georgia for basic training July 31, 2012. Hey all, reservist of six years (89B and 37F) tired of civilian lifestyle here. Looking to elevate myself in preparation for SFAS, maybe in the next year or so. Got inspired by some guys from 5th group I met in Iraq (09-10). Really like checking all the info on this site, much respect for the QPs that set it up and constantly maintain it.

Many Thanks!

I'm that one guy that was gonna do what you do, but picked up a guitar when he was 11 and decided to become a rockstar instead. That didn't work out so well, but what a journey, I have lived hard. Now my one regret at 36 was not taking that other path, (now that my knees and back aren't up to the challenge of making the cut!) Originally, I came here to do a little research for a book I'm writing, to try and see what the overall breadth of different types of personalities is amongst the Quiet Professionals.

Now that I'm in Nor Cal and looking to do some serious wilderness photography, I've heard about the problem with the mexican pot growers and I have some questions about tactics both alone and when I have my girl with me. She is as hardcore, intelligent and quick on her feet as I am, if not more so. (We will probably be doing that 24 hour sniper competition in Utah fairly soon.) Anyways, I will search the forum some more to make sure I'm not asking the same question again. I will then detail my kit, strategies in case my ability to evade the problem completely fails me, and humbly ask for pointers in spotting traps and bad tactical decisions. In return, if anyone has any questions about the following:

Photography, (normal, time lapse, panning time lapse, long exposure, HDRI)
Digital cinematography (I don't shoot film)
Lighting
Editing
3D Animation
2D Effects and Compositing
Audio Engineering
Fixing guitars
Singing
Truck Driving
Living in a van for long periods of time
Neuromarketing
Metaphysics
Apple Computers

I'd be happy to answer them...

Intro

I am a reserve soldier in CO; 24 years old. I am currently 37F qualified. The military has always been something I wanted to be a part of. My father was in the SOF community (Navy Seal) during Vietnam and up until mid 90's. He never told me much except that he went all over the world and that it was the best time of his life. I guess that is were my interest in SF stems from. After my brief time in IET I realized how much I love the Army. I don't see myself doing anything else, which is a great feeling. I have been reading this forum and training for SFAS. Recently, my Bn CO signed off on my 368 so I will be contacting my local recruiter again and obtaining an x-ray contract. It is what I want to do with my life. I am training for it everyday. I will continue to read this forum gathering info and tips for my up coming obstacles. Thank you for this great resource and all the advice.

Gentlemen,

First off, I apologizie. I could have sworn I made an intro post over a year ago when I was graciously allowed to join your boards. I can't seem to find one, and a recent PM has asked me to correct this issue. I am a nearly 30 college graduate, with a full time suit and tie 9-5 type job at a University. I am working towards my Master's degree, married, and expecting my first child in January. My family has served our greeat nation since the Civil War. I came here to read and learn. I am currently working with a SFC from the 20th in the AL NG. As soon as an intel support position opens up for the group in AL, I will have ink on paper. If you want to know more, by all means, just start yelling. I will get it corrected. Men and women, thank you for your service.

Gentlemen,

I've been wanting to join the regiment for a while, but only until recently have I finally had the right mindset to do so. I'm a Marshall University graduate and have recently returned from a tour in Afghanistan. Hopefully things work out and I will enter the pipeline soon. I'm currently in the National Guard, training with the 19th SFG (A). Always have considered myself a sponge for information so that's what I hope to gain. Thank-you for your time.

Hello,

Born in Egypt, and moved to the states with my parents around 1998. Played rugby and soccer through high school and college. Currently, I'm finishing up my last semester of my Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education.

For a long time, I wanted to be a strength and conditioning coach or high speed personal trainer but once I found out how shady that business was, my priorities changed.

I have an 18x contract under the Delayed Enlistment Program. I'm refreshing my Arabic and French and training my ass off. I'm also looking for sources of advice, which is why I'm here.

2013 will be a big year for me; I'll graduate, turn 21 and ship out to basic!

Thanks for having me.

Hello,

I just finished my first year at West Point. I had the opportunity to train with a team from 5th group this fall, and some former SF guys at Ft. Bragg this spring. Those experiences really confirmed for me that I want to work towards a career in SF during the rest of my time at USMA. I am going to try out for SFAS next spring, but first things first, I start Air Assault tomorrow.

Thanks

Thank you for having me as a guest on your forums. I hope to use these forums frequently and to become a fellow respected member of the community.

I'm a young adult male, married happily for nearly five years, expecting a daughter in July, and due to sign up this week at MEPS as a 68W (Health Care Specialist) in the United States Army.

I'm passionate about philosophy, hiking, and spending time with the people I love. I don't see any purpose to life if we don't spend our time making ourselves better people in order to serve our families and indeed the entire world.

I'm a very open-minded individual who gets along with people easily. There are few things I cannot tolerate: bigotry, injustice, oppression... I try to live my life to the highest standards, learning from my mistakes and pushing forward at all times.

I hope to be attached to an infantry unit in Afghanistan because if someone is in danger I want to be there to assist in every way I can. I have a strong sense of duty and pride which I hope to fulfill by following the long-standing traditions of the U.S.Army. I'm not under any delusions, I just want to be an expert in my field in order to save lives, and to help end oppression in any way I can.

Thank you once again, I hope this introduction is sufficient and not too long-winded either.

Hopefully I will get the chance to go to Selection and then get picked up. To be honest thru I love the path I choice to become an Officer, but almost wish I would of gone to selection before I got my degree. But alas the Officers life it shall be, I haven't delved deep enough in the forums yet. But I plan on doing so. I was extremely saddened when I figured out the man who's post were most inspiring to me had passed away. RIP COL Moroney. Thanks again for your time.

Greetings

Hello Gents,

I am a national guardsmen, just recently got picked up as a support soldier for one of the NG SF battalions. My purpose here is to learn all I can, not that I wont soon have all the resources Ill need in my unit, but I've been reading these forums for a while and have learned a great deal. My activities are listed on my profile. My short term goals are finishing my degree for which I am only 12 hours short, picking up E-6, going to ALC, and completing jump school. Long term my goals are either to attempt SFAS as an enlisted soldier or go to Active Duty OCS and then attend selection once Im eligible. My motivations for joining the SF community are a buddy of mine who is about to attend SFAS and an NCO who mentored me at the best warrior competition a couple years back.
