Don't forget the 1000 question written test as well. And the joint car safety inspection that he has to undergo every time he takes the daughter out.

She's a pretty young lady!

I would have put an ankle bracelet on the young man and surreptitiously placed a GPS tracking system on his car after I hired a PI to follow them all night.....;) And told him Ted Bundy was my uncle and Jeffrey Dahmer was my 2nd cousin. But that's just me.

Sitting here thinking about this weekend is my happy thought for the morning.

Headed up to the mountains Saturday to do a little cedar gathering and wound up bringing home something entirely different! Found these two young grrrrlz wandering lost and convinced them they would be better off letting us help. :lifter

We stopped in Greenwater, WA, population 600, left our phone numbers at the 2 stores and fortunately the humans belonging to the dogs were smart enough to stop and check in there.

Hand off was not effected until Sunday afternoon, so we had two rather charming houseguests for a slumber party. ;)

Would have loved to keep them, but it's even better that they got to go home!

No she is my second wave. She is #3 and 13 years younger than her Big Sister and 16 years younger than her Big Brother. I often refer to them seperate due to them being so far apart.... Oh and different mothers.

I got my parking refunded from when I paid $10 to park for an hour the other day. The owner's new employee didn't realize that I don't get charged, so he came up to me today and gave me my money back.

An extra ten bucks got me a nicer cigar today :D

Happy thought of the day

Despite the economy I am still working a little bit.

I can hardly wait to zero my Savage 10FP that I just bought. I also bought 1000 rounds of .308 Federal 168gr Gold Medal Match BTHP ammo. Ouch!

6.8SPC_DUMP 05-18-2009 21:22

Seeing "SF Candidate" under some member's screen names.

Good Wind, rail almost in the water, optimal hull speed... Awesome ride today... Thank You Aeolus!

The View from between my legs this afternoon. Good thing I don't have to explain those very interesting inner thigh bruises I have tonight. I look like I got beat and enjoyed it... mmmmm... I did actually.. up the mast to fix that broken shroud wire.. Wrapping the legs around whatever worked to keep in one place with 15 knot winds slamming me around.. The photo is only about 20 feet off the deck, first spreaders.

old news, but I recently found out Greg Mortenson has been nominated for 2009 Nobel Peace Price. IMHO, the man damn earns it. A true hero and a real saint. He went from climbing mountains to moving mountains. A promise kept is a promise true.

His book Three Cups of Tea is now required reading for officers. Gen Petraeus drew three lessons from the book (build relationships, listen more, and have more humility and respect). He also supposedly has spoken to SOCOM commander and SF soldiers. Has anyone here ever been in the audience?

Being a skeptic/cynical that I am, I tried to find any ulterior motives, to no avail. At such, endeavor like this makes my day as it restores/sustains my faith in humanity and in good 'ol USA.

THAT is an O'Day 27, belongs to a sailing buddy..nice little day sailor...
We had her out yesterday... rail almost in the water..she hauls butt..good racer.

Mine is a LeComet Medalist 33, see sistership below.. Am in the midst of negotiations for a newer more liveaboardable O'Day 30.
I love sailing Maja, but she is a pisser to liveaboard. The good Sisters of St. Dominic, who, btw, went to the Marquis de Sade School of Teaching, would be thrilled. I am finally on my knees... cooking, washing dishes.. have to almost stand on my head to get in the icebox. I am over it.. The O'Day, if the deal goes thru... has a doable galley... she will need Major cleaning and a possible engine rebuild. Never rebuilt an engine before, I guess I cannot be a virgin forever eh? I am sure that Yanmar has service manuals I can figure it all out from... or not... it might actually run. All good things come with some sort of price. ;):D

Maja, btw is pronounced, My-yah... it is my dtr's first name.

Great looking boat.

If you need a hand, I have an Off- Shore Hand License from the British Yacht Club.

Saoirse 05-30-2009 14:37

My happy thought for the day...

....that I have some really great friends and family that love me and that I am loved unconditionally by the man in my life! That thought is with me everyday, which gives me lots to smile about and be thankful for.

You all have a BRILLIANT weekend!!!! :)

Utah Bob 05-31-2009 07:00

Just around daybreak I roll out of bed
Real softly so I don’t wake the wife
Put on my shirt, jeans, and pull on my boots
Make some coffee, elixir of life

Then I’ll head out the back door, walk past the truck
Keep an eye out for Mulies and such
The ancient red dirt moves around neath my feet
I stoop down. It feels good to the touch

The light of the sun comes up over the hill
It won’t make an appearance quite yet
But the rays hit the top of the distant Blue Mountains
You could swear it’s the first time they met

Course red rocks and canyons aren’t really alive
I guess it’s a trick of the light
But just seems that they stretch and reach out to the sun
And then peacefully lay down at night

So I sit with my coffee cup warming my hands
As the sunlight flows down canyon walls
Each morning is different you must understand
All through summer and winter and fall

The shadows move slowly revealing new sights
That I just couldn’t see yesterday
The sun hits the rock and lingers a bit
Then shifts, as if wanting to play

Now some think that only a fool would gaze
At rocks that never will move
Ah but they’re wrong. The rocks are fine where they are
They don’t have a thing to prove

And in standing immobile, but seeming not to
I know what they really contrive
They confirm the suspicion I hold in my heart
This great land is really alive

Packing my Bags today. Heading off to a two week Instructor shooting School this afternoon. No matter how basic, Range time is always good. Free Ammo makes it even better.

Sdiver 05-31-2009 10:16

Got the Bike washed and polished up, now it's off to the Lodge for a nice breakfast, put on by the Ladies of our OES, then it's up to the hills for some riding.

My 22 month old called me honey today.
I have a few brand new weapons coming my way.

Blitzzz (RIP) 05-31-2009 20:18

Didn't know where to put this...

No necessarily the happyist thought of the day , but listening to the new and heard about the abortion Doctor being shot to death. My first response was ..."Now that's not murder it's a late term abortion."

Freshly paved roads with NO one else on them.

Cracking open the throttle and hearing my new Pipes ROAR.

Riding up in the hills and making it back down before the storms rolled in.

The taste of that first beer after a hard days ride.

Hearing the steaks sizzling on the grill, and then enjoying them with another beer.

Enjoying the view from the top of Look Out Mountain next to Buffalo Bill's Grave.

Renewed my DL today and the picture is actually decent. :D Then spent a couple of hours at the farmer's market picking up all kinds of fresh goodness from the local farmers. I resisted buying any kettle corn and now regret that decision. But I'm enjoying a fabulous salad right now....yum.

Knowing that my experiences are unique. No one will ever be in the same place in the same situation with the same resources.

Knowing that I have an awesome team here with me.

Knowing that these days will make for some good stories... someday.
