I'm not a fan of the M9, so if I actually was to have a choice I would choose the springfield XD9. Simple like a Glock, but with the grip cant of a 1911. I purchased one when springfield first started selling them and its a fantastic pistol. very accurate.

I never really understood the whole 9mm thing. I mean think about it, 9mm is nothing more than a 38 Special in a smaller case. :p

Wonder Nine, as in I Wonder why anyone uses the dam thing. :D

A whole bunch of Germans did. In fact the 9 mm parabellum was not only standard pistol round in Europe but also for SMG's, i.e. MP 42 and Brit Sten, and Sterling. We had several silenced Sterlings in SOG.

QRQ, growing up after WWII, I heard a lot of the German stuff, and the think was if it was German is was excellent stuff. For a 9mm, I was thinking of a UZI carbine. One nine may be ineffective but a whole swarm of them would be better. I really agree with TS quote, 9mm is 45 set on stun. Another QP said a pistol was something to fight with untilQRQ and lksteve, thanks. I check a Army site, "Center for Military History". There is no mention of the change but it seemed to have changed around the RVN period. There is another cite too, both on the History, citations. The Army site had some interesting stats, seems prior to WWII receiving the Medal and still being alive to receive it was very common, after WWII, that was not the case. In my Battalion we had three Marines who received the MOH, two from my company. They were all KIAed.

On Fox news, they said only about 4% of the coverage of the war is positive. I think the media is doing a GREAT disservice to the American People. (where I am not sure of the quote from here on) "Until you get a real gun, ie; Rifle". General opinion Pistols were for the non-combatants, even our Doc preferred the M 16. Carrying a pistol ment not carrying something else.
