I've got an AAC Ti-Rant in 45. I've used it with a .45 1911 and a .45 XDM. Shooting indoors, the report is still uncomfortably loud on unprotected ears. However, if I wet the suppressor down with water (and drain out the excess) both pistols were very quiet for about 15 rounds or so. The ability to take the suppressor apart and clean it is a definite plus as it gets pretty dirty shooting wet.
I've also used this can with my 300 Blackout (with subsonic loads) and a 9 mm AR carbine (with 147 grain subsonic loads) and had very good suppression. Nothing beats my 22 suppressed pistol with subsonic loads though! |

Why do you drop your weapon in the sand? Is there something I should know? . |

Update:
In looking for a new base for my next suppressor purchase, I visited several LSG' and a couple gun shows. I have fondled the full size HK , SIG, and 1911, 9MM & 45ACP offerings (5+ inch barrel). I also fondled the SIG Carry size or 1911 Commander (4+- inch barrel) Observations: 1)hi-cap fat grips just don't feel good, I get the feeling the pistol will twist left or right in recoil. I feel more comfortable with single stack. 2) 9 mm vs 45 ACP, The 45ACP wins hands down. It is sub-sonic by default. The 9MM gets less effect with sub-sonic loads. 3)Brands? I much prefer alloy frames over plastic. SIG wins (PS: I did not even look at glock) 4)SA or DA or DOA or SAO. My preference is SA, but I tried the SIG DA/SA with the SRT (short reset trigger),, it's very nice. I am also impressed with the SIG DA (9-10lbs) and SA (5-6lbs). So, I started looking for a SIG P220 Carry, with light rail, SRT, & threaded barrel. I was not impressed with the various sand colors, but for a deal?? This weekend I went to the gun shows in Jacksonville and Palatka. I found a SIG P220R Carry Elite Black, in the box. Looks almost new, dealer display marked "used". It had a couple marks were a light was mounted. The rail on the frame and grip had zero ware, If it was fired it does not show. Best part was the price,, I did a bunch of checking GunBroker, other retail sites, private sales on public gun fora,, it looked like 750-850USD was the target median price.. 650 USD OTD. I think I did good.. :lifter Checked the serial build date,, April 2007.. The P220 Elite Black was developed for Air Marshals or MARSOC or some other secret squirrel outfit. (C attached pics for specs) Now I need to find a threaded barrel, or a P220 full size barrel to be threaded. Do we have anyone that does barrel threading?? |

If you are looking for a can, look watch this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OznQ-Rb1CC8
John use to work for ACC, now for Sig. If you know silencers, then you should know who he is. The genius troll knows cans! a Sig can is hard to beat. No need for an outer extra tube, new 360 welding process, 20% more internal volume. Better, quieter, cheaper, best all around can out there! |
Sig also has a special program where military (including retired) and LEOs can buy their firearms at an up to 40% discount through certain authorized dealers. I bought a P22 subcompact .40 and a P226 Dark Elite a couple of years ago through the the program. The savings were worth the three month wait. Check their website for details.

Had a chance to get in some range time.
P220R, Fantastic ( c pics) three targets, 50 rnds each, could not be happier. The best was some retail 230 RN (pic T4), 2nd was a box of old mixed RN, TC, LRN, LTC (pic T2) and 3rd a box of LGS 230 LTC reloads (pic T6). Some FTF & FTE on the 1st box. Oiled the rails and the failures stopped. I tend to shot dry guns and this was a break-in run.. This is my 1st DA/SA SIG, it's smooth and the short reset trigger is great. It's not a tuned 1911, but I'm very happy. I did swap the Hogue big rubber grips for a set of SIG slim profile plastic. Fit me better and recoil was not a problem. My friend let me barrow his 1911, I think the SIG had less felt recoil. I also had a chance to shoot the new can. AAC Element 2 on my PPK/s (pic T5 & T7). the rear sight needs to shift to right a tad, but I'm happy with the group at 30ft. I lucked out the mini-sights on the PPK actually cleared the can. The black bulls are 1.5 inch and the red 1.25 inch. All shot at 30ft, indoor range. |
Great shooting!
If you don't mind me piggy backing on your thread JJ_BPK, would you or any one else here know if there is a SIG P220 variant to the HK Luminova? sights? I have a P220 and the tritium sights died on me. I would like to replace them with some Luminova sights but have yet to find any. |

When the tritium 1/2 life, on mine, dies, I might not bother to replace?? I am also ambivalent about flashlights on a home defense weapon. YMMV.. |
