I'm glad they got their "prima dona" asses whipped. I like swimming.

That guy "Phelps" from the US swim team is on point, not many people train on XMAS Day!:lifter

Hey Guy, Thanks for bringing up swimming, this is a swimming family here (wife and kids all compete year around) The media put all the hype on Phelps, not him. He's doing a marathon in swimming with all the prelims, semi finals and finals he's trying to do. He only wanted one gold an he's already got that.

Hey, just write into the contract that the NBA Champs (or the NCAA #1 team) are the U.S. Team and agree to represent the country at all international meets.

I watch him all the time, they said he trained 365 days a year...Damn!

I'm from a swimming family also...can you believe that?

They had a diving competition in Iraq at Saddams pool. I didn't compete for fear of injury. The platform and springboard were too close in proximity.

Ok, No sarcasm. Long Island! Town or country where you grew up? Ok, I've only heard there is some countryside on Long Island. I hear interesting fishing stories from there.

Most of the NBA players don't want to risk a multi-million dollar career by being injured at the games. I can't say I blame them, but I still don't like it.

I haven't watched an NBA game in 25 years.

Even college ball has turned into the preview of the NBA. Up here we've got the Portland Trail Blazers. These jackasses are nothing more than a gang. Every month one of them is getting into trouble: DUI, No License, No Insurance, Possesion of significant quantities of Marijuana, Assault, etc...

It's common enough that the team managment has hire babysitters for many of the players.

Considerig their terrible record, they're the highest paid team in the NBA IMHO.

The guys who make the Olymipc Games worth watching are the Phelps' and the Mariel Zagunis' of the world. I can watch these NBA bitches play by turning on ESPN whenever I feel like it, but I don't get to see the real athletes play until the games roll around.

DanUCSB 08-18-2004 13:41

Hell yes on the Mariel Zagunis. And don't forget Sada Jacobson, who took the bronze in the same event.

In case you didn't know, the Americans traditionally lose in fencing, every time. I believe this is the first American fencing gold (men or women) ever, and the first medal at all since 1984. Way to go ladies.

Yeah, I'm a fencer. We all have our nerdy habits... at least it's not dressage. :D

Lotsa baggin on the NBA and its playahs. And prolly rightfully so. Frankly, most of the "Star" NBA players elected to stay home because of "security concerns." And some of them, frankly couldn't be bothered to represent their country.

Its been mentioned here that a National Team should be chosen, whose only "job" is to train for the Olynmpics, as other nations do. I offer that the rosters of many nations are peppered with NBA players, ie, Manu Ginoblil from Argentina (Spurs), Carlos Arroyo from PR (not sure the team), and several from Croatia are on NBA rosters.

I'm not defending the ego-maniacs of the NBA, but allow me to say that MY San Antonio Spurs are a team of a buncha truly nice guys who do alot for our community, and they win!!!!! Tim Duncan is the consummate team player, as well as arguably the best player in the NBA, and The Admiral, David Robinson retired jes this past year. Volumns could be written about David's accomplishments on and off the court!!!

So, not all players in the NBA are playahs.

I always enjoy it when the Spurs win. They are a truly great team without the overblown egos and tempers.

Now you ruined my rant against the NBA, I'll have to watch the Spurs.
