I totally agree.

I have and will continue to teach LEO's to place lead on tgt, but will not teach tactics, techniques or procedures.

That is what I was told. But it was totally unofficial. IIRC it was a 55 gr frangible round. However I wouldn't and won't swear buy that info.

I too agree there does need to be a firm divisions between police work and soldiering. But what can be shared then? In a rural area we don't have alot of chances for training, for us reserves it is even more of a problem. So we do have to look to gain as much knowledge as we can. What can we learn from the military?

Shooting is a simple enough skill, and one we don't use all that much. Especially if we use our other tools properly(persuasion, etc.). Not saying it is not important to shoot well and be serious about it, but that it is only one tool in the tool box. A good cop has to have a lot of tools at his disposal. What can those of us out here in the hinterlands learn? I am asking respectfully, to try and gain knowledge and wisdom.

Concur.

Teaching marksmanship is a good thing.

American Soldiers teaching LEOs to assault and kill other Americans is a bad idea.

We have heavily armed SWAT teams in towns of less than 10,000 people, with fewer full time officers than an ODA, and multiple teams in counties and municipalities.

When the only tool that you have is a hammer, all problems tend to look like nails. When you have a tactical unit, it is always one of the early options to be considered.

Posse Comitatus exists for a good reason, and I would consider adding teaching TTP to that list.

Just my .02.
