I watched CDT Ricky Ahn (USMA '92) knock out 163 push ups in 2 minutes during an APFT in 1991. He actually did closer to 170, but the grader thought Ricky wasn't locking out at the top for the first 6-8 reps (he was). This was the same guy that on the log walk/rope drop obstacle went from a dead hang on the rope, did a dynamic pull up, flipped up and over the rope and executed a near perfect dive as he entered the water. I saw later on he was near the top of Ed Bugarin's STREND competitions...no surprise.

Thanks for the link.
I have been maxing out pushups for a few years and situps for about a year. I have really never done much pushup training b/c I could usually max them without much effort. I recently got to a new unit where they are pretty strick and want good pushups. Sometimes I am pretty sure my chest touches the ground and they dont count them. My last PT test, I could only do 65 to the standard. I picked up some of those nike pushup bars on sale for $15 and have been using them with the 100 pushup plan. It feels pretty good and really helps me go down furthur to get a good pushup in. I really enjoy it. Thanks again for the link. |
