Fav foods. . . what a great thing to think about!
Some of my favorites: Fresh caught salmon, just off the boat up in AK. . . quidio moo (phonetic rendering), the noodle soup you get on the street in Thailand. . . Pretty much any food that comes from the pacific rim. Back in Seattle, a chef named Tom Douglas has several restaurants, all fantastic. His, plus the biggies like Canlis, the gazillion Vietnamese, Thai, Ethiopian, etc. and others make my home town a nice place to dine. Here in Fayetteville, the pickin's are a bit slim, but Southern Pines has Chef Warren's. Honestly though, in the end, my favorite food is what comes from my wife's kitchen. |

Favorite foods...in no particular order
Fresh, hot, flour tortillas right off the grill from a certain little place in Texas. A rib-eye steak, chicken fried, with cream gravy and mashed potatoes. In the gravy, there has to be a certain amount of very coarse ground black pepper. Bacon - extra crisp, thick sliced, apple cured. Chocolate cake with fudge icing from Joseph's storehouse...they published the recipe. Perhaps I should post it? Sticky buns from the Gunther House bakery, gently warmed, with extra butter and coffee...all on a cool morning, about 7:30 AM...on their patio. (This may not even be legal!) |
A traditional Irish breakfast served at a B&B on the auld sod, or at Jack Quinn's if you don't want to travel.
Creton on toasted pumpernickel with white American cheese and spicy mustard. Fresh-out-of-the-oven tortiere or salmon pie on Christmas Eve, with a pad of butter melting on top of the crust. |

If You go, sit in one of the red banquets, and order a pizza pie "Joe-sep-e Style", it's off the menu, and fantastic. (Also the Chicken Marsala is amazing) Holly :) |

I did visit the "Whiskey O' Gogo" and listened to some pretty decent rock one night though. Scott Stapp of all people jumped on stage and did an impromptu few numbers of his own. I think he then got arrested the next day for being drunk at LAX airport. |
Lately my favorite is my own invention,
Alaskan Salmon Taco's. Ingredients include, olive oil, large corn tortillas (fresh), red bell pepper, cabbage, red onion, jalapenos, cilantro, lime juice, mexican cheeses, tomato, etc. They were inspired by the "Fish Tacos" at a local restuarant, theirs are made with halibut, but I prefer Salmon, so I made my own. They go down good with your favorite beer. |
