Greetings all-
Formerly username primumnonocer but per Eagle5's direction I changed my name. I'm a medic currently deployed to Afghanistan and am serving with an RCP. I am a Biology major back home and am involved in EMS. Prior to leaving I completed a paramedic program and am cleared to test with NR. I am interested in a career in Special Forces and the search bar has provided me with many answers. Many thanks to the QP's and mods who run the site. V/R BA |
Greetings,
I'm an IT guy from Latvia. Apart from sitting at computer I enjoy riding bike, camping and expanding my knowledge. Ever since I was about 10, I took an interest in military things. At first it was nothing more than kids playing war, but it evolved - I joined National Guard of Latvia. I'm here to read, in fact I hesitated even to write this post, but finally did. |

My name is Richard, and currently in the Georgia Army National Guard. I have meet only a few (current)SF troops. I always admired how they would talk to me and answer my questions. They where never rude nor stuck-up. One was a ROTC instructor, and the others talked to us on dismounted tactics while in country(OIF 09-10). I just want to thank any and all who have lived in service to others.

My name is Gabrel and I am currently in SOCM here on Bragg. I have been in since 2005 and have served with 1/75 before coming here to NC.
I appreciate the lessons learned and information everyone is sharing on here and look forward to participating more. RLTW |

I am a 28 year old Paramedic interested in SF service and way of life. I have several specific questions related to my eligibility for service that I hope to find answers to before posting. They relate to my medical status and the National Guard's medical standards. Thank you for your service and for allowing me to be a guest on your site.

18x
Greetings. 23 year old 18x from boston. Shipping 2.4.13. Looking forward to getting torn and dismantled and put back together over the next two years. Just to reiterate everyone else, thanks to the creators of this site. Lots and lots of helpful info here.

Old but new
Realized that somewhere along the line I had lost my old log in and began using my original and "un-introduced" account. I had abandoned this one in the beginning when I realized that there was a QP on the forum with a nearly identical name. That being said I spend most of my time on this site respectfully silent and unless in the rare circumstance I can add to the subject matter, I intend to remain that way.
In an effort to bring myself into compliance... 31 year old NC native. I found this site years ago when I enlisted as an 18x. Attended OSUT at Benning (A Co. 3/330). Ruptured both tempanic membranes before attending SOPC much less SFAS. After medical discharge I got involved in politics. Served at the leisure of the President as a member of the Bush administration and later as a congressional liaison, mainly to the VA, DOD and Military. I'm currently in my second year of law school. I remain in touch with my friends that went on to become QP's and have the highest respect for all of the men in this community. |
Intro.
20 year old 18X. Ship out in Febuary.
I don't really like to talk about my accomplishments, or list them out. My quasi-military background is rifle shooting, NRA/CMP Highpower, and marksmanship instruction for joes. |
My name is Mike Mxxx, i am 36 yrs old-and I live in a boring small town in eastern PA. I sell Subarus for a living.. I have the utmost respect for our military personnel who have the balls to put themselves in harms way for complete strangers. I am interested in shooting, fitness , little bit of jeeping ( when I have time). I unfortunately don't have any information to contribute on here as you are all experts, I only hope to learn half of what most you have already forgotten. I am interested in learning about survival tequniques and preparedness. i alsok like to read about your equipment recommendations, I'm sorry for the lousy typing as I'm doing this on my iPad .. Sorry for the lame introduction

First of all, I'd like to thank the QPs for allowing me to post. Members of the Special Operations community have always been my role models and motivation in life. My goal is to join your ranks one day and I will use your experience to guide me to completion.
I'm a 26 year old NG infantry soldier from North Carolina. While I've only deployed twice, I consider myself lucky to even share a sidewalk with a Green Beret. I admire your work, your professionalism, and your dedication to duty, above all else. |
My name is Mike, and I am currently a full time student at Ohio University. The military has always been something that I knew I wanted to join, but I decided to attend college first. I am currently finishing up my senior year and graduating in the spring. I figured it's finally time to do what I want to do, so I am talking to OCS recruiters to get the ball rolling on my OCS package. I plan on becoming an officer and serving the Army for a while. As soon as I am eligible, I am going to attend SFAS to become a 18A. My goal is to learn as much from you professionals as I can so I can become better prepared for SFAS and I can become a better officer. The main things I am looking for is advice on getting into the best physical shape possible. I have been checking this site out for a while and I have already learned a great deal of things. Thank you for this opportunity, your service, and your help.

Hello All,
24 year old 18X shipping mid march. Currently serving as a reservist since 2010. Looking forward to seeing some of you guys at selection and I just wanted to say that this website has been a great resource for sound advice. Over the years I have been able to soak up many great tips that I hope to put to use in my active career. |
Re- Intro
Having been in the shadows for a few years, I figure it is about time to re-introduce myself. Name is Joe and at 42, I've served in Real Army and then NG. Combat Engineer/ Sapper Team Leader during Desert Shield/ Desert Storm, I eventually took a position as an Infantry Squad Leader in the NG.
Pursuing my ambitions, I re-enlisted in 20th Group back in 1998. After trials and tribulations, injuries, and hard work, I was able to lock up six good years in Maryland. Afghanistan was good in that we had the opportunity to work as part of 3rd SFG(A). As much as I enjoyed the men I served with, the State Admins made my choice easier and I returned to full-time Civilian life and a real career. Choosing my family and a steady pay check is not a regret, though I do miss the men and the brotherhood. Joe Flag Day NCO |
SF Hopeful
I'm a recent graduate of high school in Seattle, and have enlisted in the National Guard as a Combat Engineer to ship to OSUT in January. I joined to take advantage of a deployment that has just been canceled, and am hoping to volunteer for another deployment or pursue SF in the freed time.

New Intro
22 yr old Reserve soldier in a Unit that was under USSOCOM but has recently restructured. As the username implies, I deal with my unit's commo capability. I was pointed to this site by my First Sergeant and some of the team leaders to learn more about field exipedent antennas and commo in general. Judging from what I've seen so far, I've come to the right place to Listen and Learn.

Good Evening,
My name is Ben. I graduated with my B.S. from ODU and I am currently being transferred from the Marine Reserves to Active Army under the 18x contract. I leave next February for BCT and look forward to the challenges ahead of me in my pursuit of becoming a Professional Soldier. |
Hello all, I'm a wife of an 18x candidate who just got selected. I've been on here since he showed me this site right before he left for Basic back in June, and I have really enjoyed reading and learning from all who post. My father and several other family members are currently in the Navy and both my grandfathers are retired Navy, and I absolutely loved the adventures of moving around the country and world as a Navy brat. However, I still have a lot to learn about the Army life and I'm excited to jump in and join my husband at Bragg for the Q. I have a degree in Psychology and am also a certified dog trainer.
Thank you to all the Quiet Professionals, not only for your willingness to give advice on here but also for your service to our country. I couldn't be more proud of my husband as he enters the Q, and this page has given me nothing but peace of mind that he is learning from the best. |
Introduction
Hello everyone. I joined this site last year and just realized that I never introduced myself. I haven't been on here much because I have been busy with training for my job for quite some time now. All my details are on a public profile. Just a quick rundown on me; I am a criminal investigator (Special Agent is the official title but that just means I work investigations) with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and I think I have the best job around. I have been on active deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan and other places. All of AD time came from being deployed with Georgia NG. I am both 11B and 19D. I got to know some SF professionals overseas and was impressed by the fact that all of the members were humble and didn't hesitate to educate us on the go. They taught us plenty and it was evident why they earned the title QP. I joined this site because I am impressed by the amount of experience and knowledge on so many subjects here. I likely won't post much but I know that I'll learn a lot.

Hello, I'm 34 years old, currently in Afghanistan with 3/7 CAV 3rd ID. I'm a SPC looking forward to learning all I can from you all. My purpose here is to observe, learn, and retain all I can from the experienced QP's. Any mentoring and/or coaching is extremely welcomed. Thank you all for your service past, present and continued. I strive to live up to what is expected as a soldier, and a professional. Scouts out!

Welcome all..
Do not hesitate to use the search function and read, read, read. For those that strive to become a QP, congratulation and good luck. :lifter For the families, Thank you for your support. Your love ones will need 110%. :D For those on AD and in the Guard that are here for an education, Thank you for your service.. :lifter To All a Merry Christmas.. |
My Introduction
Hello,
I am a 27-year-old engineer and mountain rescue volunteer. I recently enlisted as a 68W (option 4) to serve my country and further develop my proficiency in emergency medicine. I greatly admire the professionalism and commitment to excellence of the SF community, and have an appreciation for what I understand to be the unique missions SF teams engage in. I'm looking forward to the long, hard road which will hopefully lead me to join the brotherhood. Respectfully, Kito (ImmerVorwärts) |

I am a 29 year old police officer for Tucson PD. I ETS'd from the AZ ARNG (1-158 INF Scouts-Snipers PL) as an E-5 in 2013. My plan is to link up with the 19th Group in Utah. I enjoy browsing this site to find the information I need to be successful and not waste anybody's time.

Good evening,
I enlisted in the Florida ARNG as a 25b in 2010 when I was 17. I am aspiring to become a quiet professional, however, I understand there is a lot I have yet to learn before reaching my goals. Thank you for having me here, I read the valuable knowledge and wisdom this website has to offer often. Thank you for taking the time to read this. If you wish to know anything more about myself, please feel free to send me a private message. Respectfully, Hill |

Good Afternoon All! and Merry Christmas to you and your family.
I want to start off by saying thank you to all the QP's for your service and dedication. My name is Mike and I'm 26 from NY. I am currently serving in the NYNG and am looking to be released so I can obtain an 18X contract on AD. I have been on the sight a while browsing through the many post out there and have learned alot of things. I expect to learn alot from you guys who are currently QP's, candidates, and even those who didnt make it through the course. The wealth of knowledge on here is great and I hope to use that eventually when I go through SFAS but first the 25m target which is getting a release and working on PT. Anyways once again im Mike and thank you for your service. |

I am a 22 year old 18x recruit currently in the middle of my AIT at Ft. Benning (holiday block leave until Jan 4). I will be going to airborne school sometime in February and then I will be going to Ft. Bragg. I have heard that this website was helpful in many ways so I am looking forward to finding out.

Howdy All,
My name is Scott, I am a recent (MAY12) Q-CRS grad. I PCS'd to Panzer last summer and have been enjoying my time getting 'mentored'. I will join my team in JAN when I return from a super-fun BTL CPT job (that has at least given me some perspective). I've been reading the site alot without joining over the last couple years and always appreciate the extra perspective that I'm able to glean from the QP's-- thanks TS for creating a forum where FNGs like me can learn and keep from frequent crank stepping. In addition to that, I find the extension of team room humor comforting-- as an o if I go more than 10 minutes without getting made fun of, there's something wrong... Other than army stuff, I'm really into cycling and triathlon-- I've completed somewhere around 30 IM 70.3s and IMs. So far the Q-QRS killed that hobby and I'm doing my best to get back into long distance shape. |
My name is Jason. I used to weigh 440, and currently weigh 220. I am honestly half the man I used to be. I lost the weight in order to join the military. I was planning being an infantryman in either the Marines or the Army. Then after talking to an Army recruiter, finding this site, and reading a book by Major Joe Martin I think I may give the 18X my best shot once I lose some more weight if the program is avalible. If there is to long of a wait I may just sign up 11B,Volunteer for Airborn training , and Volunteer for Special Forces ASAP. Then again if there is a long wait that is more time to get into shape. If I give it my best shot and fail I get to be an Infantryman (win-win) plus I can test again latter from what I understand.
One problem I have is that while loseing the weight I have gotten very very old.:boohoo I am now 26 and will be 27 in July, and therefor from what I have gleaned I only have three years. I did have lots and lots of questions to ask you guys but after reading the forums for the last few days and finishing Major Martin's book, I don't have anymore questions that I can think of at the moment. I am going to get some more of the books recomended on these forums by the QPs and do some more browsing. |

Hello all,
My name is J (Team Sergeant Edit, no full names) I am currently a sophomore at Pennsylvania State University. I do have a scholarship through Army ROTC, and I am currently striving to achieve that Commission! I came across this site simply by google searching many questions I had pondered about the life after CadetLand. And my googling led me to this GoldMine! I am looking forward to studying as much as I can from this site, I am extremely grateful for this site with the abundance of knowledge one can gain, not only to become a better soldier but also to develop and become a better man all around. Thank you all for your service, and I look forward to my stay here. May it be long and prosperous. Very Respectfully, J |
Hello
Guess my first attempted took too long, since I seem to have been thrown off the site.
My father is an SF Vietnam Vet and a Professional Soldier (even tho' retired). We lost mom recently and it has been a little hard. I'm looking for (clean-ish) jokes, chess players (I'm really not that good) and great discussions to share with dad. He is always looking for someone to play chess with, and as I said - I'm not that good. I'm considered the liberal in the family (so I guess that makes me the black sheep), but I'm more Libertarian in my values than liberal. I don't believe in gun control, I do believe in less government & I do believe in taking care of our troops (both past & present). I'm not looking for trouble, I'm not looking to disrespect or be disrespected. Oh, and by the way, my name is Robin. |

Hello everyone,
My name is Thomas and I am 23. I'd like to thank those who serve or have served our county, and a special thanks to those who served in a combat role. I am scheduled on 2 January to phys and swear in on an 18x contract. I know its kind of a late start but I have never been more prepared physically or mentally. Although I have read Get Selected! twice and have spent countless hours reading and researching as much as possible, I am still trying to learn as much as I can. So, thank you to the founders of this site and to all contributors for sharing you knowledge. |
Greetings all!
My name is Mike. I am 23 and a current student-athlete. I have never been able to get away from the desire to serve and have been revisiting the idea for some time. Now that I'm a little older and see the world and where I want my future to go differently, I am strongly considering enlisting via the 18x option. In high school, our Vice Principal was former SF, and being the immature highschoolers we were, I don't think any of us understood or appreciated the character and integrity he was trying to build into every one of us. Now that I can fully appreciate it, I can attribute a lot of my desire to take this journey to that man. With that, I am here to absorb as much of your insights as possible to help as I prepare myself to enter the pipeline. The professionalism I have found here, reading what and how you QP's post is remarkable and inspiring to me. Thanks all for your service, time and dedication. Mike |
Hey guys
My name is Josh and I am 23. I Joined in Late 09 and went the RIP route. Enjoyed regiment for a couple of deployments to AFG, ran into some issues with a new PSG, and I decided it was no longer home for me. Progressing my way through the course as of now. Almost done. -josh |
SGT Russell, 13B
I am an active duty Sergeant currently stationed at Ft. Carson. I will be attending SFAS in the coming fall. I chose Carson for my duty station so I could train for SFAS in a high altitude and push myself. I am tired of dealing with soldiers who have no desire or want to be in the military. I am ready to work with and for professionals who have a true desire to be a part of something great. I have one deployment to Iraq and one to Afghan, I look forward to more in the future. I am a father and husband, I spend my free time shooting, reloading, working on my tj crawler and learning how to survive on my own. I have two eyes, two ears and one mouth, I spend my time listening and watching. I will have my chance to talk when I'm old and I have learned something worth sharing.

Hello all,
My name is Andrew, I'm an active duty 68A stationed at Fort Sam Houston. I'm currently in Afghanistan, but plan on attending SFAS in the spring or summer of 2013. I've been researching/reading on the site for almost a year now, and I'd like to thank all the QP's (and others) for the vast amount of info I've found on here, I'm confident it'll pay dividends once I enter the pipeline. |
Hello everyone. I am 22 years old and signed my 18X contract a few days ago.
This is an ambition I have held onto for many years and have patiently waited until I was mature and experienced enough to take on. I have been reading this forum for the last 6 months as I navigated the enlistment process and, now that my contract is signed, decided to register. I will be shipping out in April and entering SOPC in September. In the meantime I will continue reading and learning from this site and other sources. Thank you to all the QPs for the valuable information and insight available here. |
