Got it today.
Was waiting in the mail when I got back from a fun run. Its a great book and really helpful. Can't wait to do the 30 day workout.

Just placed my order. Hopefully it went through, because after I was finished, I was redirected to the "thanks" page, but it said page not found.
Just a FYI, the link from Warrior-Mentor.com is no good. But all you have to do is search the menu on the left of the page once you receive the "page not found" message, and you will find the, "Get selected for SF", option. Thanks to all the Prefessionals who made this book possible. I can't wait to receive it and start reading. |
Holy cow! Just saw there are over 41,000 page views on this thread... not bad.

Sir,
A fine book, and a great read. A buddy of mine who is nearing the end of the pipeline sent me a copy, but I couldn't wait and bought a copy anyway. It's not the price of the book, its a donation, and an investment in my future. I look forward to applying the lessons learned when I get to SFAS in the near future. Thanks for sharing your advice and expertise. Almost forgot, the Ft. Riley MCS needs more, I bought the last copy. Thanks! |
Just adding my thanks for Warrior-Mentor's book, which I got last week online. Clearly and directly written. Particularly liked the 30-day breakdown in Appendix A and the boot/foot-care info. No real suggestions yet - maybe after I return from SFAS in March.
Thanks! -Mac |
I have 'Get Selected' and have read it 3 times, going on my 4th. Its a great resource. Tons of personal development tips that will serve you throughout life. My question is regarding the workout at the end: My recruiter sent me a workout regiment that looks like it comes from the JFKSW Center. Has anybody compared/tested which is better? (the one in 'Get Selected' vs the one sent out by recruiters). I would combine them, but i am afraid of overtraining. Anybody have any insight? thanks!

Rucking without a good mileage on your feet will do nothing but overload your bones and ligaments and you'll most likely develop stress fractures and muscle imbalances. Another big one's that will help you before and during your preparation for SFAS is ruckmarching uphill, and swimming(but i mean swimming more than 1000 m each time you do it). If you have more than 6 months to prepare let me know i will send you different links to websites offering good workouts to prepare your body. Finally there is a ton of information on this excellent website, use the search button. Good luck!:lifter |
Just got the book last weekend, already read through it all once, and several parts two or three times. Excellent book, essential for anybody preparing for SFAS!

Thank you!
Loved this book! I was looking for something that would prepare me for what lays ahead and this has been the most helpful so far. I bought another book, and although it provided some of the same material, Get Selected was by far more detailed (I especially liked the in-depth advice on boots). Thanks again Warrior-Mentor and to everyone else! I ship out for OSUT in a month and can't wait, but I feel as though I am a little better prepared for what is to come. Really looking forward to Jump school!

I've read the book about 5 times. It's awesome! The PT schedule starts off slow then works it's way up. You have to be really disciplined, and not put PT off to do everything on the calendar. I bought mine at the PX, and I believe some of the money goes to a donation for warriors.

Ordered my copy, how long did it take you guys to get yours?

If you order from the Warrior Foundation, you'll pay less. Because they ship media mail, it will take slightly longer to get than if you order through Amazon, you'll pay more, but it can ship USPS Priority... which is faster than media mail.

"How To Get Selected"
It has been beat to death, but I wanted to add my praise to this book as my first real post. I ordered it last year while in Afghanistan at the recommendation of some GRP guys I was around. It was a great resource. I am in Iraq now and training with a few other guys. We ordered some more copies to help us prepare for a possible slot at SFAS this September. Don't know if that is going to work out (we're Guard), but we will be ready either way. When we finally get to go, we will feel more secure in our abilities and knowledge because of the information available in this book. I hope everyone who is serious about selection and/or about giving to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation would purchase one, or more.

The (nonmilitary) shoelaces
At our last drill (with the local RSP of the FLARNG) we had a 6-mile road march. I showed up with my boot's shoelaces tied in two stages the way that the book recommends, so that they are tight on the feet and looser on the calf. The cadre were not impressed and, remarking that such an arrangement was nonmilitary, made me tie them normally. They did ask where I had learned to tie my boots that way, and I almost told them that I had read about it in a book called Get Selected! about preparing for the special forces, but I held my tongue and muttered vaguely about the internet.
