I am a 28 year old 13F with three years active duty time with the 82nd, and an honorable discharge July 2011. I am currently in a reserve drill sergeant unit and work as a substitute teacher.

I have been visiting this site for about three years now off and on, and thought I would introduce myself. I have enjoyed reading and share most of your prospectives on the news.

I have always wanted to be an 18 series, but currently I see that I can do a lot for soldiers as a civilian. We will see.

Alas, it would appear my old intro has disappeared.

My name is Nate. I'm a soon-to-be-graduate from Miami University (the one in Ohio). I'll be commissioning in August '12, branching in September '12. I have to wait until September to find out, but I've requested Infantry on Active Duty. I've spent a lot of time perusing through this site, as well as picking the brain of my uncle, former 2/75 and 20th SFG (retired MSG type). I'd like to say thanks for providing such a wealth of knowledge and the opportunity to learn from some of the best the Army has to offer. Haven't really found a resource that can match this.

Eventually when the time comes I plan on making a run at Selection. Until that time, the ears and eyes are open.

Thanks again gentlemen, stay safe.

I'm an Air Defender, 14G. I have felt a calling into Special Forces for many years. After a great deal of soul searching, much thought, I have decided I will earn the right to wear a Green Beret, one day, preferably as an 18D.

Since a man is known by the company he keeps, I seek to keep company with men who are of greater character than I am. I will keep this brief as I am a guest. I do not wish to make a fool of myself so I'll keep quiet and speak when I have something worthwhile to say.

I'm seeking wisdom and striving to attain the characteristics needed to become a Special Forces Soldier.

You have an outstanding attitude.

introduction

Greetings,
I was recently introduced to this forum by a friend who I met in the 18E course at Ft. Bragg. I have been out now for some time, since 1992. I was active from 1983 to 1986 with 10th group as an 18C. After my active time I was with 11th group at Ft. Devens as an 18C, and then 18E after obtaining that MOS. I moved to Colorado in 1992 to study anthropology at CU Boulder, focusing on Mesoamerican archaeology. My primary focus now is my 7 year old son whose latest passion is the Scuba Ranger program. He still has about 2 1/2 years till he can get certified, but he's already planning which wrecks he's going to start with.
Looking forward to reading posts- especially in the fin, fur, and fieldcraft areas.

I am proud, because, this has been a calling for my boy, (as Big Teddy posts), he certainly has given up a lot financially by doing this and not joining the family business.

Mostly I am proud that it is the wish of every Father, that his son grow up and become a better man than himself. I am a lucky Father, who has had the chance to see that wish fulfilled.

Congratulations to your son,, and proud Dad..

Now you can change you profile to say: "Proud father of a Quit Professional"

Hello all,

I'm a former 18D from 5th Group who became so enthralled with my medical duties that I decided to become a doctor. I am now a cherry LT, and start at USUHS in August. I look forward to checking in periodically to know what's going on in the SF community, as I continue to stand in humbled admiration of the men with whom I served.

And if anyone knows how to reach a former 3rd Group MSG who liked "shooting guns and playing banjo" and was Robin Sage cadre around '04, I'd love it if I could have a word of thanks carried along... his instruction and guidance was a real asset.
