And here's part II.

Team Sergeant 04-28-2016 13:43

Nice work!

DJ Urbanovsky 04-28-2016 14:01

Thank you! It has been a long road bringing these guys to life, and it feels really good to see the first of them actually finished.

Big props to Curtis for showing me how sharpening daggers is done. :D

Here are all of the non-folding models that I'm bringing to Bladeshow. Pictured is one of each model for sake of simplicity and clarity. A variety of other color combinations for each of these models will be available, but there is no color combination duplication across a particular model. I will post a separate pic of the folders once they are finished.

Brothers at RMJ Tactical, Bawidamann Blades, and myself are occupying a three booth pod this year, #619, #621, and #623. I am listed in the program as American Kami Custom Blades, booth #621. Actual location is booth #623 along with the Bawidamanns. RMJ has #619 and #621. We will even be be giving a little real estate to our homeboys from Artificum Solis. Team Superbooth 2016. We should be hard to miss. Be there or be square.

Oh, and I'm probably not going to be setting up on Sunday. That's my day to recover, walk around, and talk with people.

Hope to see you guys there!

That is certainly some nice work and something to be proud of.

DJ Urbanovsky 05-28-2016 13:27

Thanks, man!

I do feel good about these, now that they are finished.

They look great, like your style. :lifter

DJ Urbanovsky 05-29-2016 11:07

Thank you!

Style is a tricky thing. Function always needs to come first, but there's no reason a tool can't do work, and also look cool while it is doing it. As a designer, sometimes you nail it right out of the gate, and sometimes it is a long, slow process of evolution. When I look at these and then think back to the knives that I was building 11 years ago, it's like comparing an F/A-18 to a Sopwith Camel.

S-Express

Some time ago, I contacted DJ and bounced some ideas back and forth with him to develop a custom blade. I knew what I wanted, but had ZERO experience making anything other than decent corn liquor and babies (be careful b/c one leads to the other in a hurry). So, I left the bladesmithing up to the professional.

Fast forward a little bit and this was waiting for me in the mailbox last week. Took her with me to the mountains this past weekend and absolutely loved carrying it and using it. It's better than anything I could've imagined - a tremendous work of art, if you ask me. This blade is 100% all DJ. Very proud to carry it and look forward to years of good use.

It's called the S-Express and can be found here (just scroll all the way down).

I'll post more photos/experiences with her as time goes on. I took some photos with other items in there for size comparison. Great work, DJ!

Those of you who I was able to meet at the show, a pleasure as always, gentlemen! :lifter

Thanks so much for you support, and am so glad to see that you are using and enjoying the knife, buddy! Appreciate you sharing the pics. Use in good health! :D

I was "hesitant" to click on that link......I was thinking a porn/mag/website with that sort of name........

Don't tell my accountant. He'll start to think I'm famous and then I won't be able to afford him.

I didn't think it until you said it, but now that you have, I'm pretty sure there's a million dollar idea in there somewhere. LOL!
