Dear Warrior-Mentor,

I'm a full time student at the University of Florida and have read this book three times already. Just put it next to the can and it was read in like 2 days. Great info. and very well put together, I searched the web for hours trying to find much of the information that was in your book. Only one more year of schooling and its 18 X-ray for me.

And there are tabbed pages all over it. I even had my fiance' read it for GP. One of the reason's I keep asking questions is from something I learned in the book, "find as many mentors as you can and ask them questions" I think that is the quote.

Again, thanks for doing the SFAS Preparation Book. There's a lot of great things in there even for an old guy like me that will never be in Special Forces (especially the items on mindset).

I like to go over things with my sons (8 & 5) to give them mental preparation as they grow up. One of my favorites is Bob Knight's Concentration Cycle (Concentration leads to Anticipation leads to Recognition leads to Execution leads to Completion). After drilling my 8 year-old with this for the past few weeks on the way to school, this morning he said "Ok, Dad. That's enough. I think I got it." So I started him on what you show in the book as far as the link between Thought and Destiny (Thoughts make Words make Action makes Habits make Character makes Destiny). He dug it, and had most of it before we got to school. As my 5 year-old gets older, I'll do the same thing with him. I know that they're just remembering this by rote for now, but hopefully it will click with them someday as I continue point out these things out to them and show how they're used in practice.

Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for the great book. It is very motivating, and very well done. :lifter

Thanks for the redirection to previous posts. There is so much info on here that I want to soak up and I sometimes take the easy way out and ask the question instead of putting in the leg work to find the answer on my own. I wish I would have known about this resource earlier, been enlightening in the last few days I've been on here.
I was looking for the answer to my more specific question and I havent found it yet. Concerning the Arid-XX, Do I need to wait for it to dry before I sock up for the day? Not sure how the whole thing works.
Anyway, great site and I'll be on here a bunch looking for more TTP's and thing's I havent thought of before tryouts and selection.

This book was furnished to me by my buddy in MOS training (18C).

It is truly an excellent read, maybe a little to quick in fact. There is a wealth of information in there, and I will most certainly be reading it again and again for extra insight.

I recently purchased and read the book "Get Selected!". In it, there was advise to join a local orienteering club to practice land navigation since it is one of the key events at SFAS. I searched, I don't think this has been asked before. How different or similar is military land nav to orienteering? Any key differences? Thank you.

Good book and the money goes to a good cause. Quick read also. I finished it within two days.

I just want to make sure that somebody knows that 'Get Selected' is selling on amazon.com for >$300. Is it out of print? specialops.org still has it for sale at $24. I know the proceeds go to charity, so it would be a shame for some entity to charge 12x the cover price just because they can.
