Hello gents,

I'm halfway through law school and reading as much as possible. I'm considering trying for a rep-63 with the NG out of CA once I finish law school and my clerkship.

Thank you for sharing your experience and insight.

Hello all,

First and foremost, thank you to all members of this forum that have helped develop it in to the excellent source of information and encouragement that it is, as well as all a thank you to all forum members that have and/or are currently serving.

I am a 28 yo REP63 enlistee exploring this forum for as much guidance, motivation, and information as I can come across. I’m inspired by the mission of SF and believe it to be absolutely vital in today’s increasingly globalized world. I ship for OSUT at the end of March and look forward to focusing on each step of the process as it comes.

Thank you again to everyone on this forum, and I look forward to meeting (hopefully) any of the other candidates attending OSUT with me and working together towards our goal.

Hey guys,

My name's Ben, I'm a Navy vet (7 years) I'm currently contracting in Afghanistan and am trying to get in touch with recruiters in the states to find out about enlisting with an 18x contract. So far in my search I haven't gotten as much as an e-mail back, but we'll see how it goes as time progresses, I'm sure they prefer people who are there in person or can communicate via telephone anyways. Thank you for allowing me access to this archive. See ya around.

Hello Ladies and Gentleman:

My name is Jon, and I am currently 21 years old. I will be graduating this spring with an undergraduate degree in accountancy. After graduation, I will be seeking to obtain an 11x option 40 contract. The primary reason why I want to serve in the United States Army is so that I can protect the freedoms that this country was built upon, and all the opportunities that she provides to her citizens. To dovetail off of this notion I also want to provide a newfound freedom to those in foreign places who are victimized by evil and tyranny. Lastly, I desire to work with professionals who take their job with the utmost seriousness. To be amongst men who are constantly as well as consistently pushing for betterment physically and mentally is a reward that I am willing to work toward. Until then, I will go hungry.

I also want to give my thanks to all the Quiet Professionals and other military personnel who have picked up the sword and those that are still carrying it. There is a lot of invaluable information on here and want to give my gratitude for keeping this resource up and running.

Hello,

I'm a Forward Observer in the Iowa National Guard. I'm a Network Administrator on the civilian side. Despite being a top performer it is difficult to get sent to schools, and as far as I'm aware, unfortunately, there aren't much for high-speed units in Iowa (at least since LRS was dismantled). So I'm trying to learn as much as I can about the Special Forces and its pipeline.

Thanks.

Hello, My name is Rhett McClure. First off I just want to say thank you for everyone here that has picked up the sword to defend this Country, I am forever grateful.

About myself: I am 27 and an Air Force Veteran. I joined the Air Force to try out for Pararescue, but because of my ignorance of taking my glasses to MEPS with me before I shipped out, I was DQ'd. After being in DEP for 2.5 years, I was told I could continue to ship out to basic and get an AFSC assigned to me or I could just not join. After waiting for so long I decided to just ship out. I just wanted to serve. Received my job in basic and served 3 years as a 3E0X2 to the best of my ability, after that I was eligible to crosstrain. Sent my package up the chain for PJ and was denied because the 1SG thought I should finish my first enlistment before crosstraining(6yrs).

At that point I looked into other options because I knew that I had a greater potential, and that's when I learned about SF. I became obssesed. After a few months I sent up my package to go Blue to Green for SF. Once again denied by the 1SG because he has never heard of someone switching branches in the middle of their enlistment. At the time they were looking for volunteers to get out of the Air Force anyways due to down sizing and sequestration so I asked to get out. 6 months later I was back home.

2nd day I was home, started talking to a recruiter about SF. Didn't end up joining because by this time I had a gf of almost 3 years that didn't want me to leave her, and I loved her so I put the dream on hold. Hindsight being 20/20, that probably wasn't the best decision, but hard lesson learned.

I've been out of the Air Force for 3 years now and I recently became single, go figure. I believe everything happens for a reason. Looking back I feel that the reason I haven't gone to SFAS yet is not because of anyone else, for we control our own destiny. It's because I wasn't ready mentally. I needed more life experience. Since getting out of the Air Force, life has thrown alot of tests at me. Today, I have a way better understanding of who I am and the person that I strive to be. It's almost like I was never meant to join until now. Once I get to SFAS there's only three options I see happening: One, I make it. Two, I get injured and hopefully get asked to come back. Three, I was never what SF needed in the first place.

In the end, my number one reason and motivation to go for the dream of becoming an SF soldier is not about me. I'm not better than anyone else, yet I was given freedom that I did not deserve. There are millions of people out there that never got the choice of freedom. So, for this gift I dont deserve to get, I will make sure I earn it. I greatly appreciate this site and the moderators. Again, thank you to anyone here who went before me, I wouldn't even be able to make this post without your sacrifices.

Good afternoon gents,

Name is Matt, I am currently training to prepare myself for the rigors of SFAS. I am mostly here to read, but I am sure I'll have a questions or two eventually. So far, as explained, the search function has kept me quiet and I appreciate all of the information that is on this forum. I hope to one day serve with you guys, until then I'm going to go make me hate myself with training.

Hey everyone. I've surfed these forums for further enlightenment many times the past few years, yet this is my first post. I'm a newbie 18e at Bragg. I had been an 11b for a few years before this, but I wanted to learn, do and be more. This site is a goldmine. Thank you to all the admins and contributors for being Grade-A enablers!

Hello,
I am 26 and am currently planning on signing up within the next few months(by the end of may) as 18x. I have yet to sign any documents, and I realize talk is cheap. I have been lurking the site for over a year now and I only recently signed up because I'd like to show my support for the site. I would also like to get in touch with anyone who might be willing to mentor me for a couple of months. Thank you all for providing this website, it has helped me to learn so much.

Personal stuff for those interested:
I work 12 hour shifts overnight and I workout between rest periods of 3 to 4 hours.
On my off days i put in 4 to 5 hours at the gym.
I quit drinking a few months ago in order to utilize more of my time wisely.
I was pursuing a career in nuclear power prior to making the decision to prep for SF.
