Hello all,

I am currently an Intel Analyst serving with the 82nd Airborne Division. I come from an SF family and plan on attending SFAS when I return from Afghanistan. I attended SOPC back in NOV 2007 when I was a Radiology Specialist. I planned on attending SFAS after SOPC, but was pulled for a deployment with 7 days notice. I used that time to better prepare for SFAS so that I would be ready to go as soon as I returned. After returning from Afghanistan, I got in a bad car accident and was told that I would never run again.

3 years and 3 kids later I am in the best shape of my life and will be finally getting the chance to do what I have been training for. I have hopes of becoming an 18D and will not let anything get in the way! My wife is also supportive, so thats a plus :D

Hello, found this site when I was getting ready for SFAS, it helped! I was in class 3-12 which ended in December so it was a little chilly. Currently in SFQC going for French and 18B. Time in service is 8 years now. Previously served with 101st Airborne divison at Ft. Campbell as a Cav Scout. Looking foward to training and soaking in as much knowledge as possible. Thanks for having me.

My name is Ron. I am prior service 1971 through 1984. I graduated Instructor Training Branch in class 72-01. I served at FAFB as a field instructor. I pcs'd to Homestead AFB in 1975. I separated and worked for Northrup Acft for a year in Dahran Saudi Arabia, then with DoD, and finally went to Dept. OF State in 79. I have worked in many of the countries in middle east and Africa. Many of the men I worked with were former SF or Navy. I have trained many times with Army, in several different schools. I was impressed with the quality of the people who I worked with and that has changed how I ran my squads. I am honored to be on this site. I am a former Air Force Survival Instructor , Air Force Specialty code P92170. I intend to lurk, as a guest and learn. I initially was looking for some men that I served with in the late 70's early 80's. I appreciate the privilege. I hope to represent the AF in a positive manner on this site.

I am 20 and from Ohio, I signed my 18x contract just a couple months ago and leave for basic at Benning next April. I'm mainly here with my ears and eyes open and my mouth shut. I would like to find a Quiet Professional in my AO though, so if anyone wants to go for a run or spend a day at the range clearing malfunctions, let me know.

Name change, posts wiped clean

I am currently in 1/5th SFG(A). I was PM'd since my prior alias on this site was my name and I was told to change it for OPSEC. Upon them changing my name for me I realized my posts were wiped clean as well. Which means I should probably post here again before I start commenting on threads...

denslen 09-03-2012 17:42

Hello all. Have always been interested in SF. My older brother was an 18A in 10th group a while back.
Joined up a while ago and thought I had posted before but the counter says I haven't.
Thanks for all of you that have served!

J-22 09-03-2012 22:51

Hey, I am making my introduction. I have an 18X contract and ship out mid November for basic. So if you have the same ship time let me know. I have aspirations to make SF and hopefully 18D which i understand is the hardest. I am 6'1" around 180lb. took PT test and scored a 257 on my first time without ever trying before or preparing. I am looking for any tips that will be helpful. Thanks!!!

Fortitude 09-04-2012 07:55

I graduated in May with my Bachelors. I finished MEPS last week and qualified for 18x. Now I am just waiting on a 18x contract.

In the meantime I am absorbing all the info I can and doing PT.

-Matthew

Just wanted to add that I enlisted as 18x candidate last week. I am shipping out mid March 2013.

Thanks for all the helpful information.

Pinoy-Sundalo25 09-04-2012 08:59

Hey all. I'm an 11A over here at Fort Beginning. I'm currently in IBOLC and will be attending ranger school this JAN. I'm here to be a sponge and soak up all the info I can. My mentor in college was an 18A with 19th Group and he influenced me to pursue the life of a "Quiet Professional". If y'all have any questions for me just PM me and I'll gladly answer them.

Hey fellas,

I'm a Reserve MISO (PSYOP) Team Leader. Did 2 tours in AFG 07-08 and 11-12. I just transferred to AD as a 91B to keep my rank of SSG. I plan on submitting a SFAS packet when I arrive to my new duty station. I've always wanted to join SF and when the opportunity arose, I took it, though it may take longer than I anticipated.

I've been lurking here for a couple years now and I always find great information. I look forward to contributing where I can and absorbing what I need to make a successful career in the SF community.

Hello,

I am a civilian with a brother in the National Guard. His goal is to become a Special Forces soldier, and to that end he has a slot for SFAS sometime this coming year. I am joining to learn more about the SF and military communities in light of what my brother is doing. Thank you for running this website.

Hello,

I am a Rifle Platoon Leader stationed in Anchorage, AK. I am a graduate of Ranger School (08-11), Airborne School, Air Assault School, Summer and Winter phases of Mountain Warfare School, and Northern Warfare School's Basic Mountaineering Course. I also have a 1/1 proficiency in Pashto. My time line for submitting an SF Packet is getting close and I am here to learn and understand more about the SF mission and way of life. I particularity enjoy working with our Afghan partners in Afghanistan and being able to closely interact with the local Afghan population has really brought me a unique sense of satisfaction. It has made me realize that I would like to move into a small unit environment where leaders on the ground are given the ability to make the right decisions and influence a population by developing their own capabilities.

Hi men! I'm 36 years old former spetznaz soldier from Kiev, Ukraine. Not Vet, I served in peacetime.
I like such rare forum and community. I'm former police detective also, and in this field war never ended.
I'm also interested in the fight against terrorism problems and in aspects of the using of special forces and history of that using, in history of wars. I hope to get the fresh knowledge and to be helpful to you if you'll want.

$I've been rresearching on this forum for a while preping for the day I go to sfas which is coming up soon. I've been in a line unit for the past four years enjoying every second but I've been told to always aim for greatness and for me that's a place among the Green Berets. Thankyou for all the great info on this site but its time for me to go pt!

Breeze 09-10-2012 22:30

I've been on this forum for a while and needed to post my intro. I'm working support for the 1st 19th right now. I enjoy it and see it as a good stepping stone to learn.

JNox 09-11-2012 15:39

Hello, here's my introduction

I've been in the military for 24+ years. I'm not SF though. I've deployed with them and worked with them for 3+ years though. I'm not even in the Army. I'm AF.

I've come to this forum to pay respects to my friend that passed away on
13 Sep 2011, MSG Dan "Slim" Adams.

I guess that's it for my intro.

I went through the 18D course with Dan, and he was a hell of a role model for us younger guys. He is missed. Welcome JNox.

ampEd 09-12-2012 13:20

I'm almost 21 years young, currently working on my BA. All my closest friends are in the Army and I aspire to do the same, however I want to be best of the best. I've never failed at anything and I seek a challenge. I feel there's more to life than what I have and I've had this thought lingering in the back of my head since I was a mere child. I have 2 years left on my BA and I plan on singing an 18x contract and shoot for 18D. As most people who join these forums, I'm here for tips.

Most if not all my answers I've ran across are covered (thank you search bar) so I probably won't be posting much, or at all. Simply lurking.

Hi All. First and foremost, thank you for allowing those who are not in your Brotherhood to join and be a guest of your Site.

I spent 8 years in the AF as a B52 Crew Chief and am now a Civilian. I have had a passion for SF my whole life and I am now ready for the next adventure. I have spent months learning from this Site and continue to learn everyday.

Thank you again,

Welcome aboard, I'd ask ya to say hello to some of the 'ol stomping grounds, but I imagine they're not there anymore...since the late '70's anyway...

Have fun, enjoy it, I'd love to get over there again one day...loved it..

Introduction

Hi,

I'm 28 years old. I joined the Marine Corps in '07 as a 2671 Arabic linguist. I was stationed at Ft. Gordon for 3 years. I helped with SIGINT and translations for a joint CT TF in Iraq for about 6 months in Iraq before they closed the base down. I just EAS'd in February and recently joined the AL ARNG as an 11b for C Troop 131 CAV (LRS) (AIRBORNE). Currently, I'm in contact with some SOT-A guys from 20th about transferring up there as a linguist.

Long time lurker, first time poster.

My profile pretty much sums up my military career.

As you might surmise from the screen name I was Armor, not SF, but I like to think I did my part... and I find the number of SF posers fascinating, especially those posing as SF who had perfectly honorable service in another branch.

In fact, most of my interest in this site is the "Wall of Shame", which is what leads me to my first post, but I suspect that is a topic for another thread in another place.

BigRedTexan 09-17-2012 08:27

Hello, everyone.

I'm thirty, female, Texan, and like to lurk here. My Army career was about six months long--medical discharge--and I certainly didn't do anything high speed while I was in.

However, when I came out of the Army, I had a better understanding of what the military's like and, therefore, have more respect for service members and families. Thank you for serving, everyone.

NGrwh27 09-18-2012 14:27

It's been a while.

My name is Bobby. I'm a 24-year-old construction worker from Indiana. I introduced myself a long time ago and didn't know there was a crash. I was in SOPC class 09-12 and I'm waiting for the next SFAS class to roll around. I was NG for 5 years before getting the 18X contract and coming Active Duty. I took a bump from E-5 to E-4 but it was worth it and SOPC was a good experience. I look forward to learning more.

Hello.

I'm a young LT from the Northeast.
I recently commissioned but I have 5 years prior service.

I highly value all the info, advice that this forum has to offer.

25m. target to is best prepare myself for selection
100m. get to selection and be selected
500m. have a successful career serving my country.

I'm open to hear any advice

pharaoh 09-18-2012 22:37

Greetings,

My friends call me Byrneski. I recently graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I am a 18X SF candidate, and shipping out to Fort Benning for OSUT in November, 2012.

Pursuing this route was an obvious choice. To serve my country among some of the most elite soldiers all the while pushing my limits was something I always aspired to accomplish. SF more so than any other unit grabbed my attention because the emphasis put on intellect and social dynamics just as much as tactics.

I'm preparing physically and mentally for this arduous yet exciting journey as best I can, keeping my eyes and ears open first.
