It's issued down here as a consumable in black.

From memory I think it's 2.5mm thick……can't recall the break strength on it, but certainly less than 550 cord(and a good bit thinner).

From memory I've got 6m(about 20 feet) of fishing line and hoochie cord each.

On my primary ALICE Pack I run both hoochie cord and 550 cord in a weaved pack handle on the frame that stows away with some "calamari ring" slices of bicycle inner tube rubber so if I run our of either as a needed consumable I can always unravel my pack handle for a bit of spare.

To be honest, the 6m is based on just fooling around a bit and space/weight consideration. I haven't tried to "live" it.

I help run a course with a survival phase and I'd like to consider incorporating a self-made survival kit component into it for self-learning/development, so this thread(and others) is helpful in that effort.

Any food down there you can set snares to catch?

Heaps of rabbits/hares(incredible density in some places)
Heaps of possums(not exactly tasty but it's calories)

Wild goats, pigs, deer galore

Also heaps of freshwater edible eels and small fish in waterways.

And plenty of forage foods.

OFF DUTY EDC
Ruger LCP .380 w/ extended magazine
+1 extended magazine
Zip Cuffs
Surefire 6P
Torch
5.11 Folder
cuff key

a good cigar.

I always wanted to carry a micro .45, but came to the realization that should I have to use my weapon one day, it'd be held in evidence for 2-3 years. With that in mind, I opted for the best, low-cost (read cheapest), most accurate and concealable weapon I could carry on my smaller frame.

That's why I bought two - remember two is one, one is none.

As it has been a bit since the last post here, and with some incidents on domestic terror, has anyone changed their EDC in any significant manner?

я надеюсь, что вы говорите России :D

I've been testing this latest mall ninja gear. Approx 7 seconds from start to 5 holes through thoracic and 1 hole in cranium. Faster if I dont extend the stock first. If I see some Nice attack copycat a**hole, that jihadi won't make it pass 100m
I enhance the covert nature with feel-the-Bern, save the whale, coexist, and make love not war pins and stickers
much to my surprise, you can split OBR/SR25 upper w 34mm optic and its lower and they fit too!

Достаточно только , чтобы получить дешевую проститутку и пиво

I'd love to have a Yugo M92,, in FA..

But as EDC?? I feel we are moving from a simple statement for personal protection,, to some uber level combination of "hunger games" and "game of thrones".

To me EDC is "what's in your pockets".

If you start up-armoring for street warfare, you are dangerously close to becoming a mall-ninja..

I don't want to belittle those that subscribe to prepping.
I do think there is a place for battle preparedness..
I just don't see EDC as the topic..

My $00.00002 :munchin

NOT an EDC but a Sling pack I fixed up about 5 years ago to carry in a specific place.

I'd rather have AKc-74y. IMHOO, the 5.45x39 is so much more manageable from short barrel compared to 7.62, even 5.56
Looks like those 5.11 mall ninja covert bag is more popular with the Russian
At 01:50 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0WdkClOBZiQ
