My very good friend’s son just today got his first choice of platform to fly for the Navy...E2s !

The garage bar saw a few toasts.

He’s an incredible kid.

Thank you Badger.

His sister just completed her 2nd year at USNA and she signs her “2 for 7” documents next week. Essentially, memorializing her commitment for the next two years at the Academy and acknowledging her service obligation afterwards. Her parents will be there for the ceremony. Very proud. Hell, I’m very proud !

Those two young people provide hope and many a good discussion around the holiday dinner table - I’ll say it again - incredible kids !

Thank you.

Need 'em all. Contrasted with the happy thought of simple retirement pleasures; like getting your grocery shopping done in the early AM and on a day before the EBTs get filled up again...

Going to Europe for 15 days for a well deserved vacation. Leaving tomorrow. Amsterdam, Cologne, Frankfurt, Heidelberg and Stuttgart. Going to visit my old stomping grounds. :)

So excited that my plans to visit the, "Happiest Place On Earth," next month were made final today!

Yep, am going to Chicago!!! :D

Was graciously invited to attend a Conference from the National Psoriasis Foundation, and even better, my shooting instructor from Colorado agreed to fly over and be my companion for the trip!

As I have been saying, "If you are going to go in to a war zone, go with a Green Beret!;)

Can't wait to try a Chicago Dog, and Malnatis pizza. Yum.

1 drip at a time, but they have a whole lake's worth.

Have fun though, Holly! Lots to see "downtown" - just avoid 'da hoods'.

Rumor has it that he wants to inhabit the Big Swamp.

In Chicago, one must eat a Chicago style pizza, a hot dog, an “Italian beef” sandwich, and anything from Manny’s Cafeteria. I recommend matzo ball soup and/or sweet and sour cabbage soup and the best corned beef sandwich, ever. After a night out, or anytime, The White Palace for the best pancakes and breakfast, open 24/7 and operating since 1939.

The politics still suck, but the food is still amazing in my former hometown.

:)WD, Sir, thanks for the information about the Mayor, as that is a whole other can o worms!

Badger, thanks for the well wish...will be staying out of the "hoods" for sure. Lol

GSMom, have researched some of the places you mentioned, and they sound like great places for travelers to visit. Am very excited to tour some of the culinary legends of the area, amd see if they actually stack up to their reps!:D

Brother I served with (and annoyed with my proofing of his Holy Brygada history manuscript) advises me that "north of 5000 block (Lawrence) or so on Milwaukee Avenue, into Niles" is some good-to-go area with culinary delights & shops. Think of it as not-so-obtrusive version of Chinatown, only Polish.
Smacznego!
